Catherine finds herself searching for the elusive 'Mac' McEnroe, and lost on Mount Blue on nothing but her psychic communication with one of her dementia patients...but for the first time she felt a pull so strongly she felt she HAD to move on it, that her patients life depended on it. Now she's stranded on a mountain top, waiting for this elusive GHOST of a man to come. When Mac rescues Catherine from where he & his team have stranded her on the mountain, he's sure she's a spy sent by the gov't...and when she begins to tell her story and he finds out she has ties to his old traitorous boss, he's positive...or is he? And why is he, who has never had a problem keeping his hands off a woman in his life, so attracted to this one? Why does he feel this connection, this pull, towards THIS tiny woman? She can't stay... Catherine is drawn to the big, strong SAFE Mac. She feels a sense of peace around him that she's never felt before...and she doesn't see his scars, or the fact that he's not the most handsome man in the world. She just sees how gentle he is with her, how safe he makes her feel, how he treats & interacts with those he works and lives with on Mount Blue. And she wants him. I LOVE Lisa Marie Rice's writing ~ she has a way of writing a hero that grabs you instantly by the throat and heart and won't let go. I'm always, always thrilled when she's got a new story out ~ no exceptions here! BUT I was suprised! First, I had NO idea this was set in the future! No spoilers, but let's just say they're on like the iPhone 15 in this book ; > ) It was a slow warm up between Catherine and Mac, which is a little unusual for LMR, but given what Mac has been through it totally worked for this story, and OMG, it was SO worth the wait. I loved how they completed each other ~ and how he respected her and her mind & skills enough to let her be part of his team. I not only loved the hero and heroine in this book, but love the whole world she's building inside Mount Blue and can't wait to get another glimpse into that world. GREAT read ~ I can't wait for the next Ghost Ops book!

Generally liked this book but a little too much of the book was the characters thinking. Mostly repetitive thoughts. Also the ending seemed very rushed. It is as if author ran out of time or something. It was really noticable because so the rest of the story was very detailed.

If you’re looking for a fast hitting story, filled with danger, hot military men and intrigue then look no further than Heart of Danger by Lisa Marie Rice. This first book in the Ghost Ops series is filled with action in and out of the bedroom. This page turner was quite entertaining for me with all the tension, action, adventure and great characters.  Boy, oh boy do I like a military man! Tough, honorable, protective - Mac would be my dream guy. That fact that his looks are less than perfect does not detract from his masculine essence and that makes a real selling point for me. In all honest, it’s then men in this series, from Mac to Patient Nine, that hold my biggest interest. Catherine has some serious book smarts but it’s her special ability of being an empath that make her very interesting. Don’t take this the wrong way but while I really like Catherine and Stella (I sense a story with her), the men are what hooked me in and kept me riveted until the very last page. That includes the villain. Something tells me we haven’t heard the last of him. Normally, I don’t go for suspense stories. I tend to tie suspense with mystery and that just doesn’t appeal to me. However, Heart of Danger had an added hint of paranormal and sci-fi combination, which is right up my alley. Throw in strong military men and frankly I just couldn’t resist. I thoroughly enjoyed the futuristic sci-fi side. You know the timing is just off in the future but not so far out you can’t relate to it. I found Ms. Rice did an excellent job with providing the right amount of descriptions enabling me to picture what she is describing without losing me in tedious drawn out details. No skimming here. I happily read every word. The geek in my really enjoyed all the high-toys. I do need to comment on the author choice of the lab being in Palo Alto. Living just down the road, oh yes I can picture this entire story taking place in Silicon Valley. This is the second book in the series that I have read. Unfortunately, I read them out of order. For the most part, both books work well as stand alones but since this series seems to be building to a climatic ending, I recommended read both…preferably in order.  I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

I thought this book was wonderful. Loved the story and the love between Catherine and Mac. I can not understand that someone would say this book sucked. They do not know what a good book is. Absolutely loved it.

This Book is about a Group of Military men. Ghost Ops Series. former Rangers No identity can be found about them. They carry no Id. They have no family's to be concerned for them. Won't be missed if they are gone for long periods of time. This group of men were betrayed on a mission or set up to fail. They believed their Commanding Officer was paid big money to set them up. They believed he was off enjoying all the money he made. These men were hunted and considered traitors. They formed their own community. Grew their own food. It's kind of a deep read and evolves around experiments on the Brain financed by a foreign country. A few of the men who were betrayed an thought dead are being used for the experiments. One especially is able to communicate with a Female Dr.who suspects these tests are not normal. She discovers what is happening and try's to help. She locates the group of men. What happens next you will have to read the book. There are 3 main characters. There are 3 books in this series. Start with #1. Some of the writing is to technical for me, but I got past it. Guess it was needed to get the story line established. But I just skimmed over much of the Tech stuff that I thought was boring. But I liked it enough to buy book #2. I had to find out what happened to the Dr. and Mac.

I enjoyed this story. It was fun, exciting and held some mystery. I love the Haven they created, it made the story interesting. Then to find their fellow soldiers and save them. Wonderful. And the physic powers add to the interest and fun. .
