Amazon’s #1 Most Unputdownable Book of the Year.

An Amazon Charts bestseller.

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

A Washington Post bestseller.

From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances…

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end…

There is something about Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s style of writing that resonates with me. They weave a story that has me invested from the very start. No words can do justice to this book. It is one of my top reads and listens of 2018. This story will tug at your heart and bury deep into your soul. Absolutely brilliant and amazing and the narrators were spot on. One click now you don’t want to miss this book.

This was my first Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward read so glad it was a good one. Charlotte is the forever romantic and after finding the note sewn into the bridal gown just has to know more about the man who wrote it. Reed has been betrayed and is no longer willing to believe in happily ever after. These 2 clash in every way possible but can they find a way to their own happily ever after? Loved that Charlotte is spunky and a survivor no matter what life throws at her. Reed is so broody and unapproachable but eventually we find there is so much more to his story. This was a fun, easy read. I am looking forward to reading more by these 2 ladies.

4.5☆ I really enjoyed Hate Notes. I found both Charlotte and Reed to be highly entertaining. The way they meet, how they meet again, how they interact with each other, all of it was a hoot! They're both great characters who have been hurt in the past. The difference is that Charlotte is upbeat and has a positive outlook whereas Reed tends to look at the negatives, what-ifs, and can be harsh at times. Reed's still a good guy, he just has a lot of walls built-up. The storyline was good as well with a twist thrown in. Ironically, I just read a book with the same plot twist, and I don't think I've read any other book with that twist. My only complaint about the book is that I wish it would have been slightly faster paced. I was hoping for more time with them as an actual couple.

The story of Charlotte and Reed seriously caught me by surprise. I never read blurbs, so I couldn’t tell you what the story was about when I started reading. It was so much more than I thought it would be. It touched me on a deeper level, and it brought me to tears. Their meeting wasn’t a normal one. But by fate, they came into each other's lives for the better. There was a twist that I didn’t expect, probably more than one. All those moments just really grasped at my heart. I’ve noticed with Vi and Penelope’s books; the covers don’t always tell the story. It’s just what’s barely simmering on the surface. Vi & Penelope are like the dream team of Contemporary Romance. I’m glad I jumped into this story. I love stories that take hold of you. And you feel that more profound connection with the characters and the story they have to tell. Overall, I give this Five Boundless Stars.

Fun and heartwarming. Its been a while since I read anything for the duo writing team but now i have to rectify that and go back and read everything I missed from them. They tell great stories, captivating pulling at your soul, and characters that make you swoon. This book was funny, sexy and Reed and Charlotte were the perfect in this enemies to lovers tale.

I truly can not express how much i loved this book. I literally could not put it down. This book features Charlotte Darling, she is both heartbroken and broke after finding her boss fiance cheating on her. She decides to try and sell her wedding dress to make some extra cash, but while at the dress shop she falls in love with a blush colored feather dress, this dress contains a secret that will change her life, a little blue note written on stationary from the office of Reed Eastwood. After trading her dress for the feathered one, she returns home to find out her ex has gotten engaged again only after 77 days to a girl that could be her clone. This just adds to her depression so she decides to medicate with a little wine. A bottle later she finds herself in the new wedding dress where she rediscovers the little love note and decides to do a little internet stalking ( you know we are all guilty of that at some point in our lives) what she finds is the most beautiful man she has ever seen. The next morning she wakes with a hang over and to find that she placed an application to view a 12 million dollar penthouse being brokered by Mr. Eastwood himself. Needing a bit of a pick me up she decides to go to the viewing even though she knows there is no way for her to afford it. What she does not know is Mr. Eastwood knows she can not afford it and embarrassingly confronts her with this information during her tour. after a heated exchange she runs from the apartment in tears, she runs to the building restroom where she runs into Iris, the owner of prestigious real estate company, they find that they both have a lot in common. Iris decides to hire Charlotte to be her assistant, but fails to mention that Mr. Eastwood is her grandson and also works for the same company. This will place Reed and Charlotte into each others lives and on the path to romance and healing. The characters are fantastic, they are complex and Charlotte is instantly connectable. She is so funny, and Reed after you find out his back story you find him also connectable and so sweet. This book is soo soo soo good. I highly highly recommend!

Charlotte is a fun and confident woman but she lost her way. She was engaged to a man and had a job she thought she wanted but really, she had just settled for what she believed was the “right” life. When it all fell apart, she wasn’t sure what to do. Well, a drunken night, a crazy submission to view an expensive penthouse and one hysterical ‘meet-cute’ that lead to new beginnings for Charlotte. Reed gives off this totally up-tight vibe but you can tell more is going on and he has a heart of gold. Meeting Charlotte upsets his perfectly balanced world in a good way (for us). As these two navigate their off-the-charts attraction, we get to peel back Reed’s layers and find the true amazing man within. Charlotte also embraces her true self and forges a new path. Now, can they build something ever more incredible as a couple? Or will fears keep these two apart? Loved every moment of this incredible journey. There are many surprises along the way that kept me guessing and intrigued to find out what would happen next.

I won this book through a Goodreads contest and in return I promised my honest review. This story contains a HEA but goes one step further and tells us a little about their future and I Loved It! Charlotte goes to a consignment shop to sell her unworn wedding dress when she finds another wedding dress, a blush colored one with feathers, but whats inside is what catches her attention. So, she exchanges hers for the other one. Inside the dress she finds a note stitched into the lining, a message that makes her change her mind about love. The name that is embossed on the blue stationery note is: Reed Eastwood, who must be the most romantic man ever. Charlotte looks him up and discover that he is gorgeous. But soon finds out that looks can be deceiving. Because Reed turns out to be arrogant, demanding, and just plain mean. Fate has other ideas and he ends up being my new boss. With some nosiness Charlotte discovers the story behind the message. A message that was so lovely but unfortunately did not result in a happily ever after. The story is heart breaking but can the feelings happening between them be sweeter and deeper than the story before? It may be worth the effort to find out.

Get ready for “that” love story written to make even the most skeptical believe in the magic of love, Fate and what a happily ever after really is! Vi Keeland and Penelope War’s HATE NOTES is a fun tug-o-war romance between a quirky blonde dreamer and an often dour realist, who just happens to be her new boss, thanks to a roll of toilet paper in a ladies’ washroom. Yes, I did say toilet paper. The carousel of crazy is about to take readers on a merry-go-round ride filled with ups and downs, laughter and sorrow, and the most stunning epiphany of all! True Love knows no bounds! Sometimes silly, sometimes sad, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have given a real sense of sparkle to contemporary romance as two people find exactly what they desire, if they BOTH are brave enough to reach out and take it. I received a complimentary ARC edition from Montlake Romance!

Hate Notes by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward (Audiobook) Narrated by Sebastian York and Lynn Barrington 4 Stars - I laughed out loud more than once during my listening to this book. I do wish there were a few more “notes” between the leads, but that is just my own love of letter/note writing obsession speaking out. I loved the way Reed would almost go out of his way to get a rise out of Charlotte and her reactions didn’t disappoint. Overall I found this book quite enjoyable. Narration was done wonderfully. Sebastian York is never a wrong choice, and this was the first time I have listened to Lynn Barrington. I would happily listen to her again. ~Paragraphs and Petticoats~

Hate Notes, coauthored by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, will tug at your heartstrings from the moment you are introduced to the main characters. Each personality is wonderfully developed, and getting to know them is a meaningful experience. This novel takes place in the Big Apple, where selling premiere real estate in and around the city is the occupation. The authors brilliantly combine a complicated yet delightful romance, emotional moments, and unique individuals into this sexy narrative. Don't pass up the opportunity to read this well-conceived, enemies to lovers romance.

Who would have thought that a broken engagement and the need to sell a wedding gown would turn into such a beautiful, funny, heartfelt, and touching love story. That is just what happens in "Hate Notes" by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, it's a beautiful love story with some bumps along the way. Charlotte Darling is the heroine in this book and she is a very unique if not quirky person, which is why she meets Reed Eastwood in the first place, but to say he is unhappy with their initial meeting is an understatement, he thinks she is off-her-rocker crazy and a total waste of his time. Fast forward to an emotional yet funny meeting in a restroom that ends up changing things for Charlotte and Reed, putting them in a position to have to interact with each other on a daily basis. I could not put this book down, and I found Charlotte to be a very interesting character, at first I did not like Reed very much, he was kind of arrogant and condescending but he soon grew on me. There are some twist and turns in this book that I did not expect, but at the same time made some things clearer. The secondary characters added a lot to the story, along with all of the little blue notes. If you have a bucket list be sure and put "to read this book" at the top, highly recommended!!!

Hate Notes by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward is a contemporary standalone romance that is guaranteed to hit you in your feels and leave you aching even wth the happily ever after. Well-written and well-paced this is another fabulous release from two of my favorite authors. Charlotte is a wonderful character. She embraces her crazy (mostly) and is learning to find herself again after realizing she changed too much to be who her cheating ex-fiancé wanted her to be. In a moment of crazy she finds herself with someone else's wedding dress and the most beautiful love note that is stitched inside. Having just discovered her ex is now engaged again to someone who could be her sister and with her very same engagement ring she gets drunk and starts chasing down the writer of the love note. Fast forward to a tour of a penthouse suite, an awkward encounter and an embarrassing cry-fest in the bathroom and Charlotte's life is about to get even more interesting. Reed Eastwood is as opposite of what Charlotte imagined as he could possibly be. Expecting the author of such a beautiful and sentimental letter to exude those characteristics in public she is disappointed when he is icy instead of warm, sarcastic instead of reverent, and an absolute beast, albeit a very beautifully masculine one. But Reed has his reasons and they run deep and it seems like nothing can break or bend this man away from his isolation - but Charlotte is starting to see some of his façade crack and the more she gets a peek of the more interested she is in learning more. An epic push-pull of emotions between two wonderful characters and I dare you to love this story! Enjoy!

Omg!! This might be my favorite by this duet so far! I absolutely fell in love with Reed even though I wanted to knock some sense into him a few times!! And Charlotte is such an amazing, strong, quirky female character!! Love following her journey to finding herself again and how she stayed true to herself and went after what she wanted. We watch her slowly break down Reed’s walls. These two were so cute together with their game of cat and mouse! And let’s not forget the little blue notes!! My favorite part was the build up!! Such great chemistry between these two! And I absolutely adored Iris!! She definitely knew what she was doing! This is a great story about letting go of the past and finding happiness within yourself and finding your one true love. This story definitely had all the feels!! 5+ Stars for me!!

IMO, Hate Notes is Ms. Keeland and Ms. Ward’s finest work to date. I fell in love with all of the characters, but most importantly, Reed, Charlotte and their love story. This is a must read! Reviewed by: Dana D. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I absolutely loved everything about Hate Notes. It had everything in it. Enemies to lovers. Workplace romance. Slow burn romance. Add in a melding grandmother and you have perfection. I'll warn you....Vi and Penelope made you work for it. These characters both have issues. They both have been so terribly hurt in the past. Even with these complicated & complex characters....Charlotte and Reed's romance was written flawlessly. Now please excuse me while I run and write my very own fu*k-it list!!! Reviewed by: Heather S.

OMG! This book blew me away! Charlotte found her fiancé cheating on her. She goes to sell her wedding dress to a consignment shop and finds a dress with a blue note attached to the lining. Curious she looks up Reed on Facebook and finds he is not married. So she books a showing of a house on impulse just to meet him. This book has all the feels and the true reveal of why Reed is the way he is does not come immediately—so watch for the plot twist. As for Charlotte, she is truly a nutty ray of sunshine that Reed desperately needs in his life. I love their individual “bucket” lists. This is a must read! 5 amazing stars!

Wow! Such a heartwarming and emotionally charged read! I laughed and I cried and I swooned. Even though Reed could be an a$$ at times It still didn’t make you hate him. Especially when you find out his reasoning. Constantly held my attention. It sucks you in from the beginning and makes you feel like you’re part of their journey. I loved Reed and charlotte’s story. Another amazing read by these two authors. Every book they co-write together just gets better and better. I loved it! I can’t wait to see what’s next. Definitely a must read!!

HATE NOTES by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romance story line focusing on wealthy realtor Reed Eastwood, and sculptor and PA Charlotte Darling. Told from dual first person perspectives (Reed and Charlotte) HATE NOTES follows the acrimonious relationship between wealthy realtor Reed Eastwood, and PA Charlotte Darling. It all started with a little blue note pinned to a forgotten wedding dress; a drunken phone call to Locklear Properties; an appointment to view a million-dollar listing; and the humiliation by said realtor, wherein our heroine Charlotte Darling will come face to face with Iris Locklear, the owner of Locklear Properties, and the woman who offers Charlotte the chance of a lifetime. But all chances come with a price including a working association with Iris’s grandson Reed Eastwood, the man whose hate for Charlotte Darling grows with every encounter. What ensues is the building romance but tempestuous relationship between Reed and Charlotte, and the potential fall-out as heartbreak and painful reminders force Reed to push Charlotte out of his life. Reed Eastwood has loved and lost; the destruction of his heart and soul left our hero with no hopes for the future and he wasn’t willing to tempt fate a second time around. Struggling to keep his distance from Charlotte Darling, Reed found himself drawn into hurricane that would become his life. Charlotte Darling knows all too well the humiliation of having loved and lost but meeting Reed Eastwood gave Charlotte the hope for a future but a future with a possible end date before it began. Charlotte is a sexy, sassy and sweet heroine who struggles to find her own happily ever after. The relationship between Charlotte and Reed began as a lie when Charlotte booked an appointment to see a property so far out of her price-range she hadn’t even realized that background checks would be part of the arrangement. Several outrageous lies result in a humiliating smack-down all to reinforce that perhaps Charlotte was completely out of her league but our heroine refused to give up without a fight. Working with Reed meant getting under one-another’s skin but getting into bed would be a whole other level. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense. The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Reed’s brother Max, their grandmother Iris Locklear; and of course Reed’s ex-fiance Allison. The world building focuses on the back and forth, yin and yang, up and down emotional roller coaster between Reed Eastwood and Charlotte Darling. Reed’s constant mixed signals, hot and cold attitude revealed a personal battle between head and heart. HATE NOTES has a little bit of everything: romance and love, humor and laughter, conflict, anxiety, heartbreak and pain. The character driven premise is playful and spirited ; the characters are fun and flirty; the romance is animated and sensual. HATE NOTES is a thought provoking love story with a playful heroine and a hero who fights an uphill battle between himself and the world.

Hate Notes starts off with Charlotte Darling getting rid of her wedding dress after discovering her fiancé had been less than faithful. At the vintage clothing shop, she discovers a gorgeous feather gown with a blue note tucked inside written by a Reed Eastwood. Always curious and still a romantic at heart, Charlotte takes it upon herself to find the man who wrote that note. Once found, Charlotte and Reed don’t exactly hit off at first. Actually the experience reduces her to tears shed in the bathroom. But sometimes things happen for a reason and coincidentally, Charlotte lands a job working for Reed’s company. The two have an interesting dynamic and they often butt heads. But underneath the dislike and attitude, romance might be brewing just below the surface. I loved Charlotte and Reed! They had an undeniable attraction to each other. Charlotte is so free-spirted and can find the bright side to almost any situation. She can see and admit her feelings for Reed; whereas Reed is a realist and has a more serious side. Not to mention he is also arrogant and often infuriating. He may feel something for Charlotte, but he will do everything in his power to fight that attraction. Told from both Charlotte and Reed’s POV’s, I enjoyed getting to know both of these characters well. They each have strong characteristics, but the more they got to know each other, the more they grew; which I loved seeing. Hate Notes was exactly what I expected from these two authors. An entertaining and unique romance with a storyline that was easy to get caught up in. I never felt like it was too long or dragging. My only complaint was that I did not want this story to end! I first discovered Vi Keeland when I read her book Bossman two years ago. Ever since then, the rest is history as they say. She continues to write books solo, but she also partners up with Penelope Ward to writing even more amazing books. I love their writing style. And the unique characters they bring to life through their stories/romances. If you are a lover of contemporary romance, then you will definitely want to take a look at Hate Notes. RATING: 3½ out of 5. **Even though I received this book on behalf of the Publisher, the thoughts & opinions expressed are solely my own.**

5 Stars! Charlotte Darling is a 27 yr. old woman from Brooklyn who is newly single and in need of a fresh start. She’d recently lost everything including her belief in happily ever afters. Then while in a vintage clothing store she stumbles upon a gorgeous gown with a blue love note stitched into the lining of the dress. It’s embossed with the name Reed Eastwood. It’s the most romantic words she’s ever read. This note gives her hope that true love and romance exists. She has built up this stranger to be the perfect man, but when she crosses paths with her dream man he’s not the Prince Charming she envisioned. He’s visually one of the most stunning men she’s ever seen, but his attitude could use some work. He’s arrogant, brooding, extremely intense, and seems unattainable. Soon fate throws them together where they are forced to be around one another often. Reed Eastwood has had a rough year and is emotionally guarded. Being hurt has hardened his heart and made him cynical. Now he’s forced to be around Charlotte and her cheery attitude. She was a dreamer who seemed to see the positive in everything. She lived life to the fullest and in the moment. She riled him up, and drove him crazy. He hated how attracted he was to her, and how she made him question himself. It’s like she saw right through him, through his stuffy exterior. She reminded him of all the things he was trying to forget. Charlotte was like no one he’d ever met. She was done dwelling on the past, and was determined to get back to the things in life that made her happy. Her joy is contagious, and she eventually made him feel alive again. They realize they have more in common than they knew. They’d both been hurt and knew something about a broken heart. Both had lost their faith in love somewhere along the way. Reed becomes completely infatuated with Charlotte, and the feelings are mutual. Charlotte came into his world and breathed new life into it. As they explore what’s between them, will they have a future together, or is Charlotte in love with a man she can never have? This book was pure Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward magic! Every time I start a book by this amazing writing duo I know I’m going to love it! What they create together is always something unique and special that completely captivates me. This was a romance about second chances and living in the moment. It was a beautiful story full of emotion and humor. I was laughing, swooning, and fell more for Reed Eastwood with every chapter!

Wow! I am just so blown away by this book. It is such an original kind of love story that is so wonderful and powerful I simply couldn’t put it down. Charlotte and Reed couldn’t be any more different which could very well be what actually makes them so perfect for each other. Charlotte seeks Reed out thinking he must be THE most romantic man in the world after finding a note he wrote inside a wedding dress she finds. Unbeknownst to her, that man has long since gone away. This Reed she meets is condescending, grouchy and just plain not nice. And Charlotte doesn’t quite know what to make of him. He makes her feel horrible. Then she meets Iris who basically changes everything. Iris is a fantastic character!! I adore Charlotte! She is quirky, no-nonsense, energetic and so full of dreams. She is determined to find the man who wrote that note and she knows he is still inside of Reed even if buried deep. She has no idea what could have happened to change this man so much but she will find out. Reed just doesn’t even know the force of what hits him in Charlotte. He has never felt the things she makes him feel and he isn’t sure what to do about that. They have much more in common than they know as they have both been hurt by recent engagements that ended badly. Charlotte opens his eyes to the f-it list, a spontaneous take on the bucket list. It is here where they discover how much they mean to each other. I went through a myriad of emotions during this book it was so crazy amazing!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who simply just loves love. Vi & Penelope, you ladies are pure magic together!

In the latest collaboration from Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, we find a heroine so human that we want to be her and a hero so stuck we want to fix him. HATE NOTES gives us Reed, a rich, high class opinionated man who thinks thinks the world should be viewed by a particlar lense. This is all based on his personal experience. On the other end of personal experience we find Charlotte, trying to climb into the light from her own darkness. Little did she realize that Reed would be the little spark she needed. Reed and Charlotte's story is charming, funny, romantic and wonderful! How these two maneuver their lives to be near each other without even realizing it is adorable. Enjoy this incredible adventure from these two incredible writers!!

4.9 Stars Charlotte recently ended her engagement due to her exes cheating ways. While trying to sell her unused wedding dress in a second-hand store, she comes upon a note sewn into another forgotten wedding dress. The most romantic note she's ever read. And obviously she needs to find out more about the guy who wrote it. And who turns out to be her new boss a few days later? Yup. Reed Eastwood. The most romantic man on the planet. NOT. He's mean and just ... not nice! But she's also not making it easy on him. ☺ LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN! What will happen to Charlotte & Reed? Will there be a HEA? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺ ══════════════════ THAT WAS ADORABLE!!!! Charlotte is such a sweet and slightly crazy person! Looking for a job and basically a whole new life after everything that happened. And then she meets this amazingly romantic guy who is so not the amazingly romantic guy she wanted him to be. But still ... the sparks are flying. Why does he have to be so mean all the time?! But not really alllll the time? Grrrr. ♥ I just adored those two and Iris and Max too. Amazing cast! I SO need to see this as a movie! ♥ I loved reading this book. It was hilarious and sweet and romantic and crazy and office-y and sad and heartbreaking and moving. Charlotte and Reed are just perfect for each other - Iris knew all along. Really adorable! It was the perfect Rom-Com with some verrry serious parts and some mysteries and surprises. I LOVED IT! A few tiny little 'thing's made me take away half a star from a 5-star-rating. Some of you might know that I hate religion ... and there was a lot of church and belief-stuff going on here. Stuff that didn't have to be in there - I sometimes felt like reading a christian romance. BUT Reed was too adorable for the religion to make me hate the book. ☺ I also missed the sexiness a bit - it started too late into the story. A few sexy moments could've happened sooner! The other thing that bothered, I will have to put this in a spoiler thingy... ↓ (view spoiler on my goodreads review Bianca ~ BJ's Book Blog) ► HATE NOTES was such a fresh and funny and very serious & heartbreaking rom-com-drama! I adored (aaaalllmost) everything about it! ☺ Run to your nearest amazon for your own Reed - this one is mine. ALLLL MINE!!!! ☺☺☺ P.S. I LOVE that the cover guy Dusan - is really the perfect Reed! I love it when that happens!
