About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

Place of Birth:

Hamburg, Germany; Margret in 1906, and H.A. in 1898

Place of Death:

Cambridge, Massachusetts; Margret died in 1996, H.A. in 1977

We bought this book for our two year old granddaughter. she is frightened of most things concerning halloween. She loves this book! She crawls up in our laps and wants to read it almost everyday. I recommend this book as a fun way to look at halloween with little ones. Curious George is always a beloved character and this just continues the smiles.

This board book isn't a story per se but rather a collection of poems. However, the poems do move along a continuum so they could be read all together as a story, although they could also be read separately. The book is designed with pictured tabs at the end, so even a young child's fingers could easily turn pages right to a favorite spread. This story lacks the usual delight of Curious George (he manages to stay out of trouble in this one), but it is still a sweet story about George getting ready for Halloween, including picking and carving a pumpkin and finding a costume, before giving out treats and attending a costume party. I picked this book out for my nephew because he likes Curious George (as do I!) but also because I prefer Halloween books for kids that talk about the things they do on Halloween (like carving a pumpkin and going trick-or-treating) versus those that talk about ghosts and whatnot.

Cute book I suppose; however, on the Nook pictures and text were really small.

This book is good, like all of the George books but we were disappointed with the illustrations that were presented for the Nook Color. Format is too small for the screen, it is hard to keep a kids attention when the illustrations are so small.

This book is cute. It's a rhyming story so it's a little harder for little ones to understand. Good story!

Curious George is always a great choice for kids. My 3 yr old grandson loves George and this book helps kids discover all the different aspects of the season, from different types of costumes, parties, pumpkins, symbols like witches and ghosts and even treats and mischief.
