This little bible contains 25 stories from the Old and New Testaments which introduce toddlers (and some older babies who are gentle with books that have thicker paper type pages) to many popular characters from the Bible. The stories are about 1 1/2 to 2 pages long and use large print and each ends with the location of the story in the Bible. You'll find 12 stories from the Old Testament - Noah, Abraham & Isaac, Joseph, Samuel, David & Goliath, Esther, Daniel & Jonah and 13 stories from the New Testament - all but one of the stories are about Jesus including the shepherd finding Baby Jesus, the Wise Men, many of the miracles - water to wine, a blind man sees, the healing of the man lowered through the roof, loaves & fishes and Zaacheous. The only NT story not about Jesus is the story of how Paul got out of Jail. Please note that there is no mention of the death & resurrection of Jesus (I thought they would of included the resurrection & the ascension) and while several of the stories have "big" words like frightened and astonished overall your child should grow to love having their own Bible and want to read it with you. It will be a great start to including a small devotional in the morning and/or while waiting in the car or to go somewhere. The God Helps Me Bible is a small Bible ideal for toddlers who need short, concise stories for short attention spans and uses words & concepts tailored for the littlest child so each story clearly emphasizes how God loves & helps us. It features spiral binding with a thick hardback cover so children can lie on their tummies and look at the book, the pages lie flat and each 2 page spread has a full page picture in bright colors. The illustrations are really cute, engaging and will introduce children to simple details that aren't overwhelming with busyness.About the Author: Juliet David has written many children's stories and Bible activity books. Her other interests include painting, music, and traveling to Israel and other Bible lands. This experienced author lives in London with her family.

My First Grader has been enjoying reading this book full of retold Bible stories. He asks to read this brightly colored and well illustrated book. His younger brother, who's five, likes listening to the stories, and have no doubt he will soon be reading these too. I find it encouraging that they like to listen and read God's Word.I received this book from Kregel, and was not required to give a positive review.

This is a sweet little Bible to have on your bookshelf! Catered for young readers, this is a Bible that is easy to read, and very colorful with the illustrations that coincide with each story. It's filled with 25 stories from the Bible, both Old Testament and New, and is not just a Bible. It's a book that will capture the children's hearts as they learn more about God and ways that he helped people long before us.My children often like to read the Bibles we have here in our home, and at ages 7 and 9, they are full of questions about how God did this and why God did that. When this book arrived in the mail, they sat down and opened it, immediately captured by the illustrations. But, as they read through it, they liked how the stories were told and that at the end, each Bible story had a bit about God helping those in the stories. It was a great learning tool, and eye capturing book!I definitely recommend this for anyone with young, curious beginner readers. With the vibrant pictures and the easy to read and easy to understand stories, this is perfect to have in every household! Definitely a great 5 Book worthy Bible for little readers!

God Helps Me Bible This is a really cute Bible for small children. The stories are short so that some children can even memorize them. I really like the spiral bound, and especially since they have the spirals covered up, and the pages open easily. The illustrations are adorable, with beautiful colors and cute child-like characters so children can relate to the characters. One especially nice feature is the thickness and quality of the pages. My three-year-old niece plays with and reads this Bible all of the time, and the quality of the Bible keeps it nice and in great shape even though it is a constant book she looks at and reads. And she does read it, she knows most of the stories, so she looks at the pictures and makes up her own little story, so adorable. I appreciate authors like Juliet David, illustrators such as Clare Caddy and publishers like Candle Books and Kregel Publishers for Bibles for children that they can look at and read in their own little way. It is never too early to teach children about Jesus, and this precious Bible is one of the many ways we have to do just that. My only disappointment with this Bible is that there is no story on Jesus giving His life so that we could have eternal life through Him. I know why it was left out, but this being the most important thing in the Bible because it is our only way of a home in Heaven, I feel it should be included. This is why the 4 stars instead of 5. Everything else about the Bible I love. I received this book free from Kregel Publishing. I was not required or expected to write a positive review. The opinions here are my own.

God Helps Me Bible is book of twenty-five stories from the Old and New Testament for children three and up. It’s noted as unsuitable for children under three. The stories are only two pages long to help keep the attention of the younger child, with two colorful illustrations for each story to engage the child’s interest in the story. The different characters and their activities are colorful and vibrant. The differences of today’s dress and dress back then can teach the child different cultures and times. Some the great attributes of the book include: Spiral bound for laying flat while reading Sturdy card stock paper for long-lasting pages Very vibrant and interesting pictures Teaches the child how God helped people in the Bible Encourages the child to look for ways God helps them/their families Teaches the child ways to thank God for His help to them Repetition of “God Helped…” reinforces the greatness of God I would have liked to have seen was a story how Jesus forgives them for their sins. They are never too young to know why Jesus came. This book was provided by Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest review. No monetary compensation was exchanged.

"Specially designed for very young children, the God Helps Me Bible features a spiral binding that allows the book to lay flat on a table, floor or lap, leaving little hands free to turn pages and point out fun details in Clare Caddy's darling illustrations. Presenting twenty-five favorite Bible stories using simple words and concepts, each story emphasizes how God loves and helps his world and people. " My comments: When I picked up this beautiful little book, I was delighted to sense a luxurious feel and heft to the book and the pages. Lovely and yet study for little hands that are just learning how to hold and love a book. The texture is smooth (as satin), feels good, looks good, and is not too heavy for the young child (ages 3 to 6) to hold. I envision a 3-year-old treasuring this little book and wanting Mommy to "read another" throughout the day. I see the child learning the basics of each of the featured Bible stories and learning how God has helped people in Bible times through the years. The child can learn how God will help him, too, in his life. Mommy and Daddy can use each and every one of these stories to plant the love of God who is our helper into the heart of a child. At the same time, the basis of the stories is laid down and a foundation for more complete learning later in the process of growing and learning. Colorfully and tenderly illustrated by Claire Caddy the faithful retelling of Bible stories by Juliet David is indeed a treasure for the hands of your little one. It is a book I would have loved to have when raising my 5 children years ago. I was provided a complimentary review copy by Kregel Publications for the purpose of providing an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and I was not required to render a positive review. ISBN: 9781859859162 Publisher: Candle books, a publishing imprint of Lion Hudson Plc

My Review: God Helps Me Bible by Juliet David is a unique bible for young children that contain 25 stories from the Old and New Testaments. The best loved bible stories are retold to help younger readers understand how God helped the main characters in the story. Stories like Noah and his great ark and how God helped Noah and his family escape the flood, how God helped Joshua destroy the great city of Jericho and how Jesus helped the little girl come back to life. I understand the author had to select a few stories from the bible but one important story that was missing was the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God did use him to save the world. The God Helps Me Bible is the perfect size bible for younger readers with its hard cover and sturdy pages. Any child will like taking it with them to Sunday school or read during morning devotion. The book is not only colorful and has bold pictures that helps bring the stories to life, but the text is easy to read. I liked that it has scripture references at the end of each story. Overall, it is a well written book that would capture the attention of any child. FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.
