Rarely does an MC live up to this much hype. In recent years, the one rapper who did was Eminem. So perhaps it's only fitting that New York rapper 50 Cent -- who counts the Shady One as his mentor and "favorite white boy" -- has become buzz-worthy. On his long-awaited, survival-of-the-fittest debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin', 50 (né Curtis Jackson) paints a landscape ruled by the strong-armed (including his crew the G Unit) and inhabited by a score of sycophants, hangers-on, and sucker MCs, including archrival Ja Rule, whom 50 disses on the catchy "Wanksta." Like Snoop Dogg and 2Pac before him, 50 Cent scores big with his singsong cadences and his enthusiastically witty rhymes. Despite his Queens address, he boasts a decidedly West Coast sound, due in no small part to executive producers Em and Dr. Dre, who add credibility to the G-funk party and have made 50 Cent an heir to rap royalty. The lilt in 50's choruses is the perfect foil to Dre's menacing bounces on the club-thumpers "What Up Gangsta" and "In Da Club." Meanwhile, "Patiently Waiting," 50's duet with Slim Shady, is a superior us-against-the-world standoff. In such moments, 50 Cent's confidence isn't that of a bullet-riddled Queens Boulevard underdog but that of a reigning champion deserving of the accolades. Let's just hope he gets rich before he dies trying.

Get Rich Or Die Tryin' is a great first album from 50 Cent. The production is blazing and you notice that when you listen to this album. The only weak song is blood hound, and the lyrics are good. I would actually give this cd a 4.5 but its closer to 5 than 4. My favourite songs: Patiently Waiting, Many Men, Wanksta, Lifes on the line, In da club and Dont push me.

Ever since I've seen 50 cent on MTV and BET as well as other music channels, I've been feelin' him. He is the hottest rapper out there. He and his music both gets 5 stars. "50 is so fine I got to make him mine." I love 50. Everday and night I listen to his music. If they could rate 50 cent on a scale from 1 to 10 he would be off the chart. His music and him are both top quality.

If there were anymore stars I would definitely rate higher. 50 is the greatest rapper(after Biggie) and I think his style is real original. I hope he comes out wit another album soon.

Get rich or die tryin' is a great album with excellent songs like "heat" "if I cant" "lifes on the line" and "P.I.M.P.". The only bad songs are "bloodhound" (TOTALLY AWFUL) and "Like my style". Apart from that its a great album. Hes no 2Pac but hes the best rapper around at the moment.

50 cent is perhaps the best MC to come out since Pac. All these other rappers like ja rule jay z and nelly are too dang poppy. 50 brings rap back to its roots that is the hardcore and rugged gangsta stuff. Songs like in the club, heat, pimp, and what up gangsta get your blood flowin and make ya not want to put your headphones off for this cd. If you dont buy this then you dont know anything bout rap. peace

This Album is the beginning of a new error in hip-hop. Shying away from the pop sound that so many hip-hop artists are embracing, Queens rapper 50 cent is going all out for the streets on his debut album ¿get rich or die tryin¿.¿ Guest Appearances by his posse G-Unit, Nate Dogg, and the man that finally put him in the spotlight Eminem, He holds his own with endless bars of talent. With tracks like ¿back down¿, and ¿Heat¿ he shows his street cred, and that he won¿t take nonsense from anyone in the industry! And with club bangers like ¿In da Club¿, and ¿If I can¿t¿ he shows a lighter side with tracks you can bump to in the club. My personal favorite is ¿Many Men¿ where 50 talks about being shot, and is still standing after while many of his enemies fade away. Not taking too many shots at his rap peers he does go directly at Ja-rule with lyrics that attack Ja¿s street cred and heart! Also spitting at anyone who doubts his skills he states ¿If David can go against Goliath with a stone; I can go at Nas and Jigga both for the thrown! Maybe not yet a Jay-z, or Nas, he has definitely entered the rap game with one message. He is here to stay!

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of 50 Cent now and days. In my opinion he's gone pop, but on this album of his, he holds it down. My favorite song is "Many Men" because it has a great feel and a melodic flow that's very dark. My other favorite is "High All The Time" because 50 tells hood stories much like Biggie did on his debut album. The rest of the album's good too, but these two songs are the deepest and truest in my opinion. I like this CD and I wish 50 would've stayed with this syle instead of going more R&B. Main point is get this, because it is very very good.

50 Cent is the Best Rapper Around! I Got His Limited Edition CD/DVD The Day It Came Out. His CD is Awsome. I Really Like The Song Patiently Waiting With Eminem. That Song Stood Out The Most to Me. Overall This Cd Is All Good! It Has No Filler Like Ja Rule's Latest Cd.
