'Flying Against The Wind is Ina R. Friedmans stunning biographical portrait of Cato Bjonets van Beek, a gifted young women whos extrodinary courage, spriti, and sense of justice led her to join the handful of non-Jewish Germans who rejected Hitler's 'master plan' and worked actively for the restoration of individual rights and human dignity. Her story is one of romance and intrigue, of exceptional bravery, and above all compassion one's fellow beings. It is, finally a testiment to the power of the human spirit,a timeless saga of a real-life heroin who will captavate and inspier readers to the first page to the last.' (back cover) I storngly agree with this. When you first open this book and start to read, you are introduced the main character, Cato. Frist, she is a child, and grows to be a strong and outgoing woman. When you have finished this book you will understand why this young woman defied the Nazis. I recommend this book to people who have or have not studied about the holocaust. This book will give you a glimpse at the Germans who were not with the Nazis and who stood up. I liked this book the best out of twenty-five, that I have read. Try reading it, and you'll love it!!
