About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

Place of Birth:

Hamburg, Germany; Margret in 1906, and H.A. in 1898

Place of Death:

Cambridge, Massachusetts; Margret died in 1996, H.A. in 1977

This is a must have for kids who starting to learn about constellations. The author made it fun and easy for my 7 years old son to understand and mesmerize all the facts. Thanks to the librarian who recommended this book for us.

I really enjoyed this book and found it very informative and easy to understand for someone just starting to learn about the stars. However, i had a lot of problems trying to read it on my nook tablet and just ended up buying the real book. The pictures were small and had text you could hardly read. If you turned it sideways, it made the pictures readable but cut them off. As i got tward the end, the pictures were missing altogether. Not very helpful when is a star map you would like to memorise. If you are interested in learning or teaching your kids about the constelations i recomend buying a real book and skipping the nook.

This is a terrific book to work on projects or just to find out what is beyond our hemisphere.

Basic astronomy for viewing with the naked eye. Intended for grades 4 to 7 - a very handy reference for adults too. Maps of the sky (for the 4 seasons) with the principal constellations shown, and stories about the mythology of their names. Also a good section on the planets.
