Overview

In this inventive take on the traditional Cinderella tale, Fanny Agnes is a sturdy farm girl with a big dream. Someday, she believes, she will marry a prince. When the town mayor announces he is throwing a grand ball, Fanny is convinced her time has come. She puts on her best calico dress and goes out to the garden so that she'll be ready when her fairy godmother arrives. As the seconds tick by, Fanny waits and waits. Finally, she hears a voice. It isn't her fairy godmother-but it is someone who will change her life forever.

Great twist on Cinderella. Fanny dreams of going to the big dance at the mayor's house. But she can't dance and she doesn't have a thing to wear. She gets another offer and decides to accept that one instead. Very funny, but still a good message that Happily Ever After comes in lots of different shapes and sizes.CMB

In this "Cinderella" story, Fanny gets tired of waiting for the Prince and find hers own true love.

This is a very delightful story, based on the Cinderella and Prince Charming idea. Fanny finds her prince in a humble farmer who sees her for who she really is and loves her for it all. They marry and really do live happily everafter. The story deserves praise for presenting the idea in realistic and believable terms. It's a much healthier view than the overstyled fairy tales we usually read. For this it is also a nice reminder to mature folk that prince charmings and cinderellas come in many forms and sizes, and happy-everafter doesn't have to involve living in a palace.

'Fanny's Dream' is written by Caralyn Buehner and illustrated by Mark Buehner. This book was kind of fantastic because Fanny [the main character] followed what was right even if it meant giving up her dreams. I thought the illustrator did a good job in making the pictures simple so you can understand what they're talking about. I liked how Fanny believed in herself even though she didn't marry the mayor's son. In the story you can tell what the setting was and probably the time period. I think the book was fairly good.

I give this book as wedding gifts to all of my friends because it discusses what love and marriage are really all about. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is charming. I highly recommend it!

Fanny's Dream is really fun to read. You might even feel the same emotions Fanny did. It's almost opposite of the other Cinderella stories as Fanny just gives up when her fairy godmother runs a few years late.

i have never read a book like this one. The pictures are beautifully illustrated. My three year old son brought it home from his school library and we all loved it.It truely helps you appriciate your family and that home is really where the heart is.Its a more realistic version of cinderella.I want a copy for myself for sure.
