This is a both pop up book and a book on how to create pop up design. Carter breaks the world of pop up construction into basic elements with clear explanations and a working model. The best book on pop up construction I've ever read.

I'm a student at Brooklyn Technical High School in New York. This book helped me a lot in creating my pop up book for technology class. Each and every pop up has little descriptions.. but they don't really tell you how to make it. However, this book is informative in relation to the other books I've tried.

Not a story book, but an excellent source for the ' how to ' of the pop-up art form. Simple straight forward 3D examples with written formulas for the elements of folds and angles, make the book more of a tangible sampler than a techinical text. Recommended for the artist or illustrator or anyone looking to make a different type of visual presentation.

I am the author of this book. Children often ask me which of my books is my favorite. I now tell them THE ELEMENTS OF POP-UP. I created this book because kids asked for a book on how to make pops. Not only do Jim and I explain how to make the pops, we give you an pop-up example of each of the basic designs. I hope you have fun with this book and that you learn to build some really cool pop-ups. By the way, Jim Diaz is the co-author, not Jim Carter.
