I found this book to be useful as an EKG Instructor to help students to learn to recognize different arrhythmias,as well as the normal tracing. It was informative in all the topics that it covered. Some of the material was more detail than a student who has no medical background needed but could still be useful for them. I liked the fact that all strips used were actual patient strips and not those generated by computer. The students need to see real strips as well as those that are machine generated in order to better determine what rhythm the patient is in and whether this one is normal,moderately serious,serious,or life threatening. There were plenty of practice strips and a posttest to better determine the knowledge level of each student.

ECG Workout has really been helpful to me as it has been 20 years since I have worked in an ICU/ED setting. I found the way the book starts with normal sinus rythm and works up to the irregular patterns was just the right way of progressing. In fact I think I learned better this way than sitting in my original cardiac course that lasted 2 weeks! Another thing I really liked is that it has many practice patterns. It also has the answers in the back of the book so that you can see that you are naming the patterns, PR intervals, QRS complexes, etc. correctly.

This book really helped me understand EKGs for my critical care class. The book is easy to follow, and it takes you through cardiac anatomy first, then ekg's step by step. The exercises at the end of each chapter will help confirm that you really understand the material. I have not looked at other EKG books, so I have nothing to compare this one to, but I am not going to sell this book at the end of the semester. I will keep it for a reference, and would recommend it to my friends.

Good overall product. Large variety of ECG strips for review or competency testing with a full variety from novice to expert.

This is very good book for the novice looking to improve their skills in reading rhythm strips. Although the text does not include 12-lead EKGs, it is perfect for training for CCU and ICU rotations. Each chapter includes a brief review of the various arrhythmias and then the majority of the chapter is devoted for interpretation of about 100 rhythm strips. The rhythm strips include everything from atrial fib./flutter/SVTs, V. tach/fib. and also usual form of AV blocks. The text does not include therapy though. Practice makes prefect, and this is a good way to start.
