The X-Men DVD provides an impressive 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and THX sound, but the supplementary material feels rushed. While the viewer has the option of watching ten minutes of extra footage reinserted into the film through "extended branching," the transition is not seamless; most of the scenes are from an unfinished working print and are not anamorphic like the rest of the film. The featurette "Mutant Watch" is a television "making of" special that is at least creative in its execution, if not very substantial. Segments from a Charlie Rose interview with director Bryan Singer are also included, but it would have been nice to see the interview in its entirety, while the Hugh Jackman screen test is a feature better placed in the context of a more expansive documentary about the production. The art and animatics galleries feature remarkable concept designs and computer animated storyboards, as well as two hidden "Easter eggs." Highlighting the rose in the trailer menu shows a brief on-set gag involving Spiderman, while Wolverine's dog tags in the art gallery provide concept art for two characters cut from the film. While X-Men has the appearance of a special edition DVD, it will certainly be supplanted by a more authoritative version in the future.

This movie was the beginning of an incredible series, with numerous sequels and prequels. The plot is good. Magneto had created a device that would turn any regular human into a mutant. He wanted to turn the World Leaders into Mutants, so the goals/needs of Mutants would be the same as the theirs. Unfortunately the machine wasn't a success. The induced mutation was rejected, and the human body began to break down at the cellular level. The X-Men had to battle Magneto's minions, to keep Magneto from using his machine. Wolverine is a subplot to the main movie. He's a primal/elemental character. He's guided by instinct and has berserker fighting stile. Primarily a loner personality, but fiercely protective of anyone he cares about. This movie is when he first meets Rogue, Professor X, and the X-Men. Though he never agrees with their political views, he eventually/reluctantly fights by their side. The cast is spectacular. Patrick Stewart is the ideal choice for Charles Xavier. Ian McKellen portrayed Eric Lensherr flawlessly. Hugh Jackman brought Wolverine to life - He is Wolverine. Rebecca Romijn showed many aspects of Mystique. Halle Berry showed both Storm's power and beauty. Anna Paquin played Rogue, when she was just learning what it means to be a Mutant.

This movie was way way way better than I ever expected. I just couldn't get enough. I think the cast was an excellent choice. Hugh Jackman brought alive the character of Wolverine, as did Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Ian McKellen as Magneto. The plot was a great introduction to the whole x-men being and I'm just waiting for the second one to come out.

I thought that it wouldn't be very good because it's based on a comic book but my brother got me to watch it and it was excellant. My favorite parts were when Storm's eyes went white. Also it had great special effects!

X-MEN is excellent. The cast is an excellent pick. The effects are amazing. Bryan Singer doesn't overdo it on the effects either. The main purpose for the effects is to portray the mutants' superpowers. Now about the cast. HUGH JACKMAN ROCKS! as Wolverine, the seemingly rough and tough don't mess with me, type of guy. But Wolverine just can't seem to hide his sensitive side. That's what makes him interesting. Some of the lines he exchanges with Cylops( JAMES MARSDEN) are funny. This movie is first rate in every aspect. With action to the rim, great effects, EXCELLENT acting, and more. Patrick Stewart, Fammke Jannsen, Halle Barry, Ian Mckellan, Tyler Mane, Rebecca Romjman Stammos, and Ray Park co-star. This is an EXCELLENT movie. Don't miss it.

I really liked how Bryan Singer portrays racism and prejudice in this movie. Bruce Davidson does a great job on a bigoted US senator who wants to punish all 'mutants' with forced registration(re:witchunts)My favorite character is Rogue. Will someone please tell me what happens to Rogue in the X men comic,'Rogue's tale, beauty and the beast.''Thanks

EVERYONE I know is tired of book readers reviewing book movies and comic readers reviewing comic movies... but dang it did this movie hit close to home! I was a wolverine fan since I was 10 and working at a comic store for comics (not money) and I am now 27. 17 YEARS have gone by! Anyway finally I get to see him in a movie! And I heard saber tooth was in this one too! (There both arch enemies, like batman vs joker or superman vs Luther get me?) and in the movie when he flies through the car window I kid you now not I can STILL remember being on the edge of my seat in the jam packed theater on opening night, and Wolverine gets up, heals... then stops... he smells something... CLAWS COME OUT! Im like YEAH! SABERTOOTH! WOO! And sure enough it was! and they fought I was like "yay!" then... in the x-mansion he didn¿t know who saber tooth was...? so that short fight in my head that came with all this history was super exiting, now knowing he didn¿t know him kind of made it normal... and then made me sit normal through out the rest of the movie. Seriously they should have asked me ;) I read enough Wolverine comics to know how he talks. ANOTHER example
In the statue of liberty saber tooth is about to do something bad to storm and says "you still owe me a scream..." then da da da! Wolverine jumps down to save the day, but what he says again slowed down my adrenalin cuz it was so not what wolverine would say... this is what I JAY thinks should have been said...
WOLVERINE: "I got your scream, right here!" Right as he says "here" his claws come out and he charges saber tooth! But NOOOooooo here is the movie idea dorky wolverine "hey, were not done bub." yes wolverine uses the word "bub" but come on! We all know wolverine kicks butt! Even more when you mess with girls he considers friends! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway outside comic view I guess the movie was cool.

I really, really enjoyed this movie. It was a lot of fun and the DVD options are great (Hugh Jackman's screen test, deleted scenes). You really don't have to be a fan of the comic to enjoy it. Why? Because no one making the film (actors and director) knew the comic before they started making it.

I've always liked the comic book, and I was thrilled when I heard they were making it into a movie. And after I watched it I wasn't disapointed! In fact I LOVED IT! Rent it or better yet buy it so you can watch it when ever you want!

One of the better adaptations of comics to big screen. Wonderful effects and good character developement. I especially enjoyed the banter between Scott and Logan.

As far as bringing comic books/games to the screen. This has to be the best so far. the filming, sound and acting are great. The only reason I feel I did not give it 5 stars is that I just finished watching ''The Perfect Storm'' the same day...and the acting does not compare... But if you like reading the X-men comic, you must have this film. The DVD gives you a lot of extra's. And for a comic book, there is a very good story line. Wolverine's creation seems to need its own movie. Everyone else is a borned mutant.... Of course the comic book as is the movie, is a staement on how the majority treats minorities they do not understand.

The X-Files was a pretty good comic book to movie adaptation. The special effects were amazing as expected and the plot was entertaining. Not the best, but not the worse. If you're bored and have absolutely nothing to watch, this is a good amusement.

I normally don't watch movies adapted from comics but, I have to say that this was an exciting film. It was put together very well. I liked the depth of the charactors. I wish I had seen it on the big screen. The effect were great.
