Overview

A camera crew follows the mundane lives of 3 immortal vampires in New York and their interactions with the living. Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), despite their incredible powers and abilities, seem to have normal everyday struggles such as dealing with their differences, setting ground rules, and integrating into society. Joining them is Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) who is Nandor's familiar, and Colin (Mark Proksch) who is a completely different kind of vampire. Written and directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. ~ Zach Atreiu Pinpin

Great movie if you're a fan of mocumentaries. I ordered the blu-ray. The only reason it's a 4 star is that the back states that there are 2+ hours of features like interviews, deleted scenes, etc. The only special feature added onto the main menu is a trailer to the movie. I originally saw the movie on DVD that I borrowed from the library and it is essentially the same.

At first glance this mocumentary seems like a fluke. But true me, it's worth your time if you are a vampire fan (not the sparkly kind). Hysterical and original, "What we do in the shadows" uses special effects the right way. Effects should illuminate the senses instead of over stimulate. This is not for everyone. Definitely rated R but a lot of fun.
