The Young Visiters

The Young Visiters

Director: David Yates Cast: Jim Broadbent, Hugh Laurie, Lyndsey Marshal

An "elderly man of 42" attempts to impress the woman of his dreams by spiriting her away to the country house of a London lord in this class-conscious satire penned by nine-year-old Daisy Ashford in 1890. Alfred Salteena (Jim Broadbent) is absolutely smitten with the lovely Ethel Monticue, so smitten in fact that he promises to take her on a whirlwind tour of high-society London despite the fact that Salteena only knows one bona fide lord. When the couple finally arrive at the home of Lord Bernard Clark (Hugh Laurie), the promises made by Salteena reveal the true power that beauty holds over man, and offers keen insight into the cultural differences that divided 19th century London.
