Todd Phillips brings television cops Starsky and Hutch to the big screen with this affectionate action comedy that stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as the title duo. The film debuts on DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the movie's original theatrical aspect ratio. The seventies-style clothing comes across just as vividly at home as it did on the big screen. English and French soundtracks are both available, while English, French, and Spanish subtitles can be accessed. Supplemental materials include a commentary track by the director. Phillips spends the majority of the track discussing how great his actors are and revealing many of the obscure references to the old series made during the course of the film. A short featurette with Snoop Dogg about the costumes he wore in the movie, a blooper reel, the original theatrical trailer, and a very funny mock featurette on the making of the film (in which all the interviewees pretend that they hated working together) round out this release from Warner Bros. This disc is fine for what it is. The same extras are available on a different DVD version that boasts a widescreen transfer of the film; that version is preferable to this one.

Do not be fooled like me. This is a movie, a horrible one at that. I thought it was one of those tv series on DVD. Anyway I watched the movie sinced I owned it. I only got about twenty minutes into it before i had to give up on it. I am infuriated with Hollyood always remaking great TV shoes and completely ruining them. If anyone knows how i can get moneyback please email me.

This movie version of Starsky & Hutch is so bad I can't describe how bad. Mere words do not do it justice to express how profoundly ridiculous and lame this movie was. Owen Wilson is capable of much better, but his roles portray him as more of a clown with each successive film. Ben Stiller is a one-dimensional actor in all his films, he's just the same.
