Without the exploding mutants and robotic high school babes that most Americans associate with Japanese anime, this film is a taut psychological thriller. At the behest of her agent, Mima leaves both her moderately successful girl-pop band and her virginal image for an acting gig in a sexy television drama. Her new career and new look does not please all of her fans, though. She soon finds herself being stalked by a shadowy figure with long hair and bad teeth, and she discovers that someone has posted disquietingly intimate details about her private life on the web. Later, the architects of her new image, a photographer and screenwriter, are found stabbed to death. But what unnerves Mima most is that she feels increasingly threatened by an evil incarnation of her former pop icon self. Is she being pursued by an irate Mima impersonator or has she slid into some kind of delusional psychosis? Perfect Blue is directed by noted anime screenwriter Satoshi Kon.

Perfect Blue is one of the best, if not the very best animated movie that I've ever seen. The plot will have you thinking, even after the millionth time that you've watched it.. Everything is so real and it's something that you can so see happening, that is often kept shushed up by the press. And not only that, both the sub and the dub are excellent. It's one of the best dubs out there in anime, especially Bridget Hoffman, the talented girl who does Mima's voice.

This is a very good movie! I watched a trailer of the movie after seeing it suggested to me and I instantly felt I had to see it. This movie will not disappoint you. The movie starts a bit slowly, but bear with it as it builds up suspense. At some point I was just as confused as the main character and started to think I had it all figured out, of course the movie surprised me yet again. There is a bit of nudity in this and a scene or two involving the actress playing a character that is raped and one where she almost is in real life a

A beautiful masterpiece that makes you question everything about yourself. Beautiful animation and a shocking twist at the the end. This is my favorite movie!

i loved this -- it's really unique since it blends the psychological thriller genre with the anime genre. it toys with the viewer's concept of time in all kinds of ways... toward the end of the movie, reality and time are so scrambled that it's hard to tell what's going on in the movie, and it's really cool.

This Anime was excellent! It had a good suspence plot, excellent characters, and a great ending! I would recommend this movie for any body intrested in Anime or just getting into it! The ONLY down side is the plot is confusing ant some points and if you dont pay attention youll be very confused.

Definitely one of the best psychological thriller animes to date. Flawless imagery and time and money spent voice actors. (They definitely did not use the same 5 voices they use for all other animes.) You'll definitely be surprised at the end. Perfect Blue is a must for any serious anime collector.

This is a great movie. I saw very few flaws. The voices were perfectly insync with the movment of the mouths. At times I thought I had my mind played with. I have many freinds who also like this movie. You could even put it with the greats, such as Akira,Vampire Hunter D and a few more I can't really name right now.

What a trippy film. I watched it the first time ever at four in the morning. That was really wierd. Its got strong characters and a really well written plot. I would even go so far as to say it is the best movie of all time, animated or not. Other movies are dim witted slave orphans from a war torn Yugoslavian village in comparison.
