Mars Needs Moms...Even a strange Title. Even though the commercials looked odd and the story line was not the typical for a cute kids movie, my family and I rented this hoping it would turn out to be good despite how weird the commercials looked. Well, we couldn't have been more wrong. Although this gets out a great message : kids need to respect their parents (mom) while they can and they also need to understand how much value their parents (mom) really have - even though they make you take out the trash, eat your veggies, and clean your room. Other than that message, this movie was terrible. The basic story line goes something like this: Mars needs the memories of a disciplining mother so they can use those memories to discipline their own "hatchlings" (children). It is a somewhat confusing story, and So odd at times that I regretted watching it. The aliens looked more like creatures from STAR WARS than something that should be in a kid movie, and the romance between an alien and a human was so strange and cheesy that it made me uncomfortable to even watch it. Although it had a good message, I can not give MARS NEEDS MOMS more than one star because of how weird the rest of the movie was. Concerns for parents : Not too many. One part I thought might be a bit intense for children is a scene in which a human is remembering his first time at mars and what the aliens did to his mother... Other than that I can't think of much else that would be a problem. The alien creatures might scare young children. In my opinion, this movie is not worth seeing, but if you decide to see it I would suggest renting it instead of buying it.
