Very disappointed in Barnes and Noble for how they advertise this item. I bought this trilogy as a Christmas gift for my dad because the pictures showed that it came in a collectible box that matches his extended edition LOTR set. However, despite the pictures clearly showing this, it arrived in a flimsy paper sleeve. I ordered a second one in case the first one arrived in incorrect packaging in error and received the same flimsy paper sleeve. The advertising is at best lazy and at worse deliberately misleading. The movies are great, I am just very disappointed that after finding one website, which showed the collectible version of the trilogy, that the pictures are just wrong and misleading.

The set that you are viewing on the Barnes and Noble website is excellent. I purchased one set at the store as well as the extended, blu-ray Lord of the Rings set. I wanted to buy an additional set of both items but they were not available at the store, so they ordered them for me. So far, I have only received The Hobbit trilogy even though I received an email indicating that both arrived at the store, and the packaging for The Hobbit is completely different than what is shown here on the website. As the previous reviewer stated "it arrived in flimsy packaging," different than what is shown on the website. I will be returning what I received and hopefully exchange it for the correct item, as well as finding out what happened to the Lord of the Rings set. Advice: purchase at a physical store, rather than online.

I grabbing the Hobbit Extended Blu-Ray Trilogy when B&N had it for 50% off. After using a coupon total cost was $45 with tax/shipping, which was the cheapest I could find anywhere. I also received it sooner than expected. The trilogy is nicely packaged. Each movie is in its own blu-ray case that holds 3 blu-rays so there's. Total of 9 discs. Also included is a code for the ultraviolet HD digital copies (No iTunes copies). I redeemed my code at Vudu and received the Extended Trilogy bundle with all he extras, which would cost $50. Would definitely recommend this set.
