Overview

A not-so-ordinary family finds a new way of paying the bills in this comedy. Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) and his wife, Jane (Téa Leoni), would seem to have it made -- Dick has a high-paying job, they live in an expensive house in the suburbs, they have two luxury cars in the driveway, and a housekeeper, Blanca (Gloria Garayua), to help look after their son, Billy. But Dick and Jane's fairy-tale life crashes head-on into reality when the firm Dick works for turns out to have been using unscrupulous accounting methods to disguise the fact they've been losing money hand over fist, and Dick has been made the fall guy for some of their dirty dealings. Suddenly flat broke, Dick and Jane must find a new way to support their lavish lifestyle, and in time they discover just the thing -- crime. A remake of Ted Kotcheff's 1977 hit (which helped re-launch Jane Fonda's screen career), Fun With Dick and Jane also stars Alec Baldwin, John Michael Higgins, and Angie Harmon.

Jim Carey is talented - no one doubts that. And the premise of the movie is good. However, as much as the movie tries, it just isn't as funny as it wants to be. The good spots are few and far between, but they do exist. Tea Leoni is wonderful as Jane, a loving, supportive, but realistic wife of Dick. She shines when she gets the chance and she is what makes the movie worthy of watching it in the dollar theater.

It's been a long time since a comedy brought me as many belly laughs as this one did. Jim Carrey was more relaxed, so his character was more believable. Tea Leoni was excellent as the quick-thinking wife.

Not Jim's best, but an ok escape.

This movie was not funny at all. Jim Carey running around trying to be funny--but not succeeding (could you expect him to? he hasnt had a funny movie since The Mask, I guess it was his first and last good one). Were we watching Holes or something, cause I swear he was diggin up holes and what not in his yard. stupid, anybody??? And who holds up a coffee shop...and then goes back inside and actually gets coffee?! LAME. Not his best work, although have any of them been? (except for the mask)

Though this movie certainly has it's funny moments, most of it just falls flat. It had the potential to be really funny, but I don't know what happened.
