Based on a short story by Argentinean author Jorge Luis Borge, the surreal mystery Death and the Compass comes to DVD from Anchor Bay. Presented with an anamorphic widescreen transfer enhanced for 16 x 9 TVs and Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Also contains an audio commentary track with director Alex Cox and composer Dan Wool, who scored the film under the name of his band Pray for Rain. The only extra feature is the half-hour short film Spiderweb, directed by Paul Miller, which offers a different interpretation of the same Borge short story. The DVD package includes a brief text interview with Cox and a Death and the Compass sticker. This disc is recommended for fans of Borge's writing and Cox's bizarre cinematic style.
