Michael Kantor's documentary Broadway: The American Musical details the history of this venerable art form. The program consists of six chapters, each covering about 20 years of time. Archival footage and interviews are used to show how musicals have maintained their popularity. Many famous productions are touched upon including Oklahoma, Wicked, and West Side Story. The individual chapters are titled "Give My Regards to Broadway, "Syncopated City, "I Got Plenty o' Nuttin', "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin', "Tradition, and "Putting It Together."
