Listed as sole director of the British documentary Evening with the Royal Ballet in many sources, Anthony Asquith was actually co-director. Asquith's collaborator on this project was Anthony Havelock-Allen, who also produced the film. Critical assessments of the film tended to dwell upon its lack of cinematic verve. Perhaps: but when one has a chance to see Rudolph Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn at their very best, why quibble. Highlights of An Evening with the Royal Ballet include selections from "Sleeping Beauty" and "Les Syphildes." The DVD also contains biography sections for both Nureyev and Fonteyn.
