When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina was just the beginning...

Wounded during a climactic battle, Link discovers that tending his injuries won't be as simple as visiting a doctor and that healing his arm should be the least of his worries. For being bitten by a Supernatural does more than break the skin -- it changes a person, inside and out, turning Link into someone more and more like the dark creature who injured him.

In this never-before-seen short story by New York Times bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, listeners witness Link's heart-racing transformation. Dream Dark is set before the much-anticipated third Beautiful Creatures novel, Beautiful Chaos, and as a special bonus includes an exclusive sneak peek at the first five chapters.

I have the entire set of the Beautiful Creature novels by Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl. The first book is Beautiful Creatures, second book is Beautiful Darkness, then this ebook is a filler about one of the characters, then the third book is Beautiful Chaos. Dream Dark is about Link and his personal battle in the series, it is very short and if you choose not to read it with the series you have not missed anything, however it gives you a few more details into his behind the scene struggles.

This book files in the gaps between book 3 and book 4. Well written and a must read for any fan of the Beautiful Creatures Series.

This isn't a bad add-on to the Beautiful Creatures series, but it would have been nice to know that it was included at the end of Book #2 (or maybe it's three... sorry) and I didn't have to buy it separately. In my opinion, just read the four books of the series and skip this as a standalone read - you're going to need the back story from the other books for it to make any sense anyways.

This book is awesome and it fills in some of the gaps in the book. You won't be sorry especially if you like Linkbus.

I was very disappointed with just how short this story was. I feel that it had the potential of being very insightful but was cut way too short. While I love the rest of the series, this story was more or less pointless. I certainly didn't gain a better understanding of Link the way that others claim.

I have the entire series, and loved them all. But this was a complete waste of money. Loved the idea of seeing Links point of view.. just not long enuf. This coulda been great.

Link has always been an interesting character, made more for use of the comic relief and also for his rollercoaster relationship with Ridley. After his change, he became even more interesting as a half Incubus, more human than his bloodthirsty counterparts. Here is a short story that’s just a little too short as it focuses on Link’s transformation into a half Incubus. There’s a lot left unsaid, many tidbits that are explored in the main series, some hints here and there about the relationship between Ridley and Link. But ultimately, as Link goes into his transformation, the writers decided not to explore everything he is and everything he can do. The authors clearly had a goal here, and endgame, something they wanted to get at in telling the story, but ultimately, the execution of the story was very flat. Link is a great character and the comedy that makes him so great is there, but the way the story moves to quickly without really exploring Link as he is now, his feelings, thoughts, desires, everything that has changed so much with him being changed. It wasn’t some small change, it was a literal life changing moment that readers didn’t really get to see change him. And that’s unfortunate. This would have been a great moment to explore all the changes, give the readers something to laugh about as he thinks about what he can do with his newfound abilities. But none of that happens. Macon trains him, sends him on an errand and that’s the end of that. It was boring. There was nothing anticlimactic in the story, nothing that really stood out. This is a short story that was just too short. There could have been so much more that the authors could have done in this story, especially with an ending like that, especially with the way his relationship unfolds later in the series. It answers some questions, but doesn’t provide a filling feeling for the reader. There wasn’t enough substance in the novel to hold the reader, or to even justify this short story’s existence when compared to the rest of the series. Sure, reading about Link is fun, there’s just this emptiness about the story. Compared to the rest of the series, this just seems two-dimensional, without depth and tension and drive. (★★★☆☆ | C)

Although this short story was good, in my opinion, I didn't like how it ended so abruptly. I wanted to read more than what was given. I am in love with Beautiful Creatures and the characters but this was kind of a let down. I read this in a total of ten to fifteen minutes and then the rest was just sneak peaks to the other books written by the authors. I gave this three stars because even though I didn't like how it was really short, I enjoyed going back into the world of Beautiful Creatures and reading about Link's experiences of the changes he went through.

This forty pages of story had no substance to it to call it a "book".  It was quiet literally a chapter taken out of the previous book, and then marketed as the missing story never told... This was not worth my time, and certainly not worth the money.

Seriously nothing happened during this short story. The only reason to buy it would have been if you wanted to read the first 5 chapters of Beautiful Chaos.

I liked this but was disappointed by the length. The product description shows it as 65 pages in length when in reality only 39 pages are Dream Dark the others are product related and sneak peeks at other works. While I am glad I read it, the eBook should be $1.99 not $2.99. This short (I don't really think it is long enough to be called a novella) fills in a bit of Link's back story from the Beautiful Creatures series. While it was very interesting it stopped abruptly.
