About the Author
Dori Sanders was born in York County, South Carolina. Her father’s farm, where her family still raises Georgia Belle and Alberta peaches, is one of the oldest black-owned farms in York County. In the growing season she farms the family land, cultivating peaches, watermelons, and vegetables, and helps staff Sanders’ Peach Shed, her family’s farmstand. Clover, her first novel, was followed by the novel Her Own Place and a cookbook, Dori Sanders’ Country Cooking.

I was an avid fan of Dori Sanders after reading CLOVER and A HOME OF HER OWN so when I heard about her cookbook I bought it just bercause she wrote it and I also collect a few cookbooks. It turned out to be one of the best cookbooks I've ever read. Not only are the recipes easy to follow and almost foolproof but the narratives that are included make it a sheer delight to read. The ginger cookies are the best I've ever had and I made 12 batches for Christmas giving. My husband expects some to be in our cookie jar almost all the time. When our book group, Sisters Connected co-sponsored a visit to Barnes and Noble in High Point, NC, Sanders wowed the crowd and they sold out of the cookbook in minutes after her talk. She is a real delight to meet and talk to, very down-to-earth and funny.
