Now every kid can write like a Wimpy Kid!

An exciting companion to the bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

“First of all, let me get something straight: This is a journal, not a diary.”

This innovative interactive journal based on Greg Heffley’s own “diary” lets kids express themselves in an exciting new way. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book, kids will be asked: What was the best dream you ever had? The worst thing you ever ate? The best secret you ever heard? The most trouble you ever got in for something that wasn’t even your fault to begin with? This Do-It-Yourself Book features art throughout, along with ruled and blank pages for readers to create their own stories, keep their own diaries, and record their favorites and least faves. Includes a bonus full-color comics section featuring the collected cartoons of Greg Heffley and his best friend, Rowley.

16 pages of full-color comics!

“Move over, Harry Potter. . . . There’s a new set of titles dominating the bestseller list for kids’ chapter books, and there’s nothing ‘fantasy’ about these.”—Andrea Yeats on NPR’s All Things Considered

“Perfectly pitched wit and believably self-centered hero . . .”—The New York Times

“Charming and hilarious from the get-go. . . . [Kinney has] an uncanny eye for the depredations and triumphs of middle school life.” —The Boston Globe

“The writing is sharp, and the artwork, though deceptively simple, is both entertaining and expressive . . . adding comic punch to these funny-because-they’re-true scenes . . .” —Bookpage

“Perfect for someone about to go to middle school, perfect for parents to help ease their child into this new phase. . . . Kinney has done a wonderful service for preteens by talking about all those awful, embarrassing, and good moments.” —The San Diego Union Tribune

My son loves these books by Jeff Kinney! This book in particular has brought out so much of my son's imagination that he is truly learning his own style of drawing plus just simply having fun. I love to go back and read and see what he has either written or drawn out of his growing mind. A truly fun book for kids to have! I will be saving my son's book for when he's older just to have for a keepsake.

I bought this book for my 8-year-old grandson. He absolutely loved it! He loves the Wimpy Kid books, but I think he had more fun with this book. He spent all afternoon and the next day working on it and filling in the information.

My son absolutely loved this book. Already obsessed with Diary of a Wimpy kid stories, he loved being able to create one himself. He is seven, and though reads fairly well, he is not one to just pick up a pen and write, as it is much more of a challenge for him. This book motivated him to write and draw, which has improved his skills and helped him to write more in other situations. He also had fun sharing his comics and stories with my husband and I. I highly recommend it.

So there are pictures and previews for this. The 2 picture isn't really in my book.Or not in my book because I have papperback rather that hardcover.I bought at a my school book fair for scholastic. It's nice. Cool. You can write and read a bit.You can draw and in the back they have like a hundred pages to write you life or a journal or even a novel. It's a nice book.I'd recamend it to kids 13 and under. You do not have to read the serise to bye it.I didn't!I more of a twilight reader. So anyway it nice for on the go fun.

The book was great for a ten year old to write and follow the sometime silly directions to make his own book. Couldn't wait for the next book to come out and had to go back and buy the other ones.

My kids love the wimpy kid books and this do it yourself just goes right along with it. They had a blast filling in the pages and making up their own stories. It even made them think they could be a writer when they grow up. My kids range in age from 13 to 7 and they all love it.

My son had this book written in a few weeks and loved it. It is a great way to introduce kids to journaling.

I gave this to my granddaughter who is in the first grade. She adores it. It encourages reading and writing skills as well as thinking skills. I had first thought it might be too old for her, but it definitely is not. The book is funny, very readable and slightly challenging for a first-grader; however, she has enjoyed it again and again. Perhaps its best trait is that it involves the child in all of these skills. It is an active rather than passive book. It is too young for my fifth-grade grandson, but I believe children in grades one through four would like it. I would recommend it to parents and grandparents.

This was a gift for my grandson. He is 8. He could not put this book down. He said it was great. He spent hours the first day he received it reading and writing.

I bought this book for my 9 year old and he loves it. He has all the other "Wimpy Kid" books and has seen the movie. This book is fun because he got to put a picture of himself on the cover and it keeps him entertained. There are games and activities for him. He will pick it up on his own and work it but it is definitely the book that i make sure to take with me when we have an appointment or down time when we are going to be waiting.

I got this for my 10 year old son and he loved it. He has started his own journal and has stuck his picture on the front of the book. (there is a spot on the front cover to put a photo if you like)

My boys (9 and 11 years old) both enjoyed this book. In fact, they still create/edit the drawings in the book. It's entertaining for them because they share their drawings with each other and laugh about it.

My 9 year old begged for this book. I got it for him and was surprised at how much he enjoyed it. Writing in it, sharing with friends. This was just an overall good purchase as it has kept him very busy and helped his writing skills.

My brother reads these books. My brother is going into the fifth grade and he hated reading untill he started reading dairy of a wimpy kid. Before that he couldn't stand the fact that I could sit for hours and read. He helped me fill up the top of the rating part. He now has a library card too! Thanks for helping, -a grateful big sister P.S. The recommended books are mostly for girls

My son read a book a day of the series and is now using the diary. Without me having to remind him to read or write! We need more books like this that kids love and are interactive.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this for my 6 yr. old but after reading this along with my son I'm so glad we did. My 6yr. old can read this by himself and he loves it when I read it to him with my different voices. It is a great book. Some have said it's better for pre-teens but I think it's a great book for all.
