Overview

LAPD Detective Renée Ballard teams up with Harry Bosch in the new work of fiction from #1 NYT bestselling author Michael Connelly.

Renée Ballard is working the night beat again, and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out, but then checks into the case herself and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger.

Bosch is investigating the death of fifteen-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch to find out what happened to Daisy and finally bring her killer to justice.

I really enjoy this pairing of detectives. They compliment each other perfectly. Hope he writes many more with these partners. I think Bosch finally found his true partner at last.

Two great characters from previous books, now working together. A flawed but dedicated and fierce team. Looking forward to the next book.

I'm a huge Michael Connelly fan, have read every single book he's written. I especially LOVE the Bosch series. This last one was like getting a Christmas present in October. I'm already looking forward to the next Harry Bosch book, or any book Mr. Connelly writes!

Been a loyal reader but this one is not a page turner; bland story, characters poorly developed and overly descriptive of mundane things,.

I really enjoyed reading about Detective Renee Ballard in The Late Show. Now she's partnering with retired Detective Harry Bosch in Dark Sacred Night. They're working together on a cold case about a murdered young girl, Daisy. Michael Connelly definitely can write crime fiction that is fast paced and keeps you riveted to your chair as you keep reading to see what happens next. Based on the ending, it sounds like there's a pretty good chance that there will be more collaboration with these two.

Detective Renee Ballard & retired Detective Harry Bosch cross paths during the late show at the Hollywood Division. They start to work on a more-than-a-decade old murder cold case. Against all odds, they solve it!

I loved this new pairing of Renee Ballard, banished to the graveyard shift because she spoke out about being harrassed by a superior who had more pull than she did, and Harry Bosch who's always operated without the full support of those he should have been able to count on. They team up to solve a cold case, a young runaway who had no one else to speak up for her or care about her death. The readers are fantastic and the story compelling and satisfying. I can't wait for October and the next installment of this pair, Renee still on the squad at LAPD and Harry on the outside, with a unique bond and mission.
