i loved this book. the carachters were described perfectly and so was the plot. the creek had MANY different twists and turns. at the end of each chapter i would take about 5 minutes and think who might have been scaring everyone. the end is very different. but once Zach comes into the picture at the end you will soon realize who is terrozing the town.

I am someone who doesn't like to read the same book more than once, but with The Creek I could read it again and again and it wouldn't get old,I know what is coming but the author writes it so its just as entertaining each time I pick The book up.It even has a little romance in the midst of a thriller and mystery. The plot is amazing, the writing is great, and the characters are so likable'and some intriging'you will not be able to put it down.

Penny is the main character of my book. She lives in a small town where not much happens. Until Caleb Devlins moves back to town. He was a trouble maker. He soul a car and almost shot someone. When he came back from go venal detention everything got tense in town. The kids (Penny and Mac) only built a small fart instead of a bigger one like they wanted to this year. He had built one there before he went to jayvee. All these weird things started to happen when he came back like somebody burned Penny¿s fart down. Then Caleb was found dead in a creek by Penny¿s house and they had to find out how was doing this thing. This book was pretty good I rated it a 4 because it really has a lot of suspense and you don¿t want to stop reading it. Though I don¿t like the whole building forts and stuff its kind of childish. It picked up the pace almost ride away in the first chapter. It grabs you and holds you because the suspense starts at the beginning. I would recommend this book to anyone how likes a good mystery. You never expect how the killer is till the end. It reminds me of CSI because in the show you never now how the killer is till the end. If you like watching the television shows like CSI you should cheek out this book.

This book takes place in a suburb outside of a big city. Behind the suburb there is a large woods. The woods have a creak running through it. This book is about a thirteen year old girl, Penny, and her 10 year old brother, Teddy. Penny and Teddy just moved into the neighborhood. Strange things start to happen when a kid named Caleb Devlin comes back from jail. He was sent to jail for killing peoples pets and attempted murder. Now he is back and mysterious things begin to happen. Penny¿s cat disappears, and Mac one of penny¿s friends, finds an old skull in the woods. An unusual fire takes place in the woods and burns Penny and her friend¿s tree house. Everybody thinks that it is Caleb Devlin but is it? Only weeks after the fire, Benji, one of penny¿s friends, finds his sister in the woods with a slit throat! Penny believes the murderer is after her and her brother. This book is full of suspense and mystery. This is the Best mystery book that I have ever read and I would recommend it to anyone. Some things that I liked about this book were that it had a lot of details. Another thing that I liked about this book was that their was a lot of twists and turns that you would never expect would happen.

This is the best book I've read in my whole life. Once the action dies down, all a sudden it comes back. The end is the best part and it has its own twist.

The Creek was an excellent suspense/mystery story filled with twists and the turns. The plot was cleverly crafted, with loads of irony and unexpected happenings. The characters were believable and well described. I'd definitely recommend the Creek to anyone looking for a good suspense novel.

This book first looked like fun, with a scary and interesting plot. But after only a few pages I found it utterly and terribly disturbing. It was unbelievable and violent, with dark shady undertones. Penny was boring and hard to like. Don't buy it whatever you do

I am reviewing this with a sense of both pride and predudice--pride in that I know the author, being she is my niece, and prejudice because I am extremely partial to the thriller genre, and would tend to be tougher on this than Holm's historical works. 'The Creek' is dark and disturbing, venturing into what I would describe as Donna Tartt territory, but with a young reader's language and sensibility. It does not sugar coat, and is very upfront about the soical dysfunctions of the suburban lifestyle. While the thriller aspects are certainly formulaic, she is skillful enough to manipulate this reader enough to catch him at one point off guard, and she gives the perpetrator a credible motive without going into more clinical aspects which her readership would not be able to handle. Certainly my knowledge of the reality of the neighborhood and some of its people gives the book an impact it might not have for others, but young readers wishing to explore the thriller genre would do well to start here because the author, here and in her other books, does what many young adult writers do not--talk to rather than at their readers.

This book is full of excitement! The whole time i was at the edge of my seat, turning each page afraid of what will happen next. I was terrorfied through most of the book, and at the end there was a terorrifying twist, and because of that twist i was afraid to even turn the corner in my house.

This book is pretty awful. The main character is supposed to be 12, but she acts and talks like a nine-year-old. And the writing is choppy, with lots of boring parts.
