Tinka is a cool dog, a school dog, a breaking all the rules dog. A hall dog, a ball dog, a crash-into-the-wall dog.

Join Tinka, a dandy, sandy Golden Retriever, as she unexpectedly visits her owner at school and helps his class learn to read. Bright illustrations rendered in acrylic paint add to the excitement in this playful back-to-school story about a boy and his “loves-to-hear-a-book” dog.

The author and illustrator of Cool Dog, School Dog have donated this book to the Worldreader program.

A very cute poetry book on a dog and his owner. The dog breaks rules and runs to school where his owner is. He ends up reading with the kids in class and invited back everyday. This is a good book to get students excited about reading. This can also help introduce simple poetry and/or a show and tell day.

Tinka refuses to be left at home alone when "the boy" goes off to school. At first, Tinka makes a mess at school and the teacher gets mad, but by the end of the day, after Tinka "reads" with the children, Tinka becomes a "please come every day" dog. The words are minimal and are great to illustrate rhyme. The illustrations "tell" the story. A great book for a read-aloud!

Summary:This is a fun rhyming book for young children. It is about a dog Tinka who goes to school. The book uses fun rhyming language to tell the how Tinka does at school. Good Pictures. Personal Reaction:Book was fun loved the rhyming. Extension Ideas:1.Have children talk about why dogs can¿t go to school. And ways dogs could be helpful at school.2.Can use when doing unit over dogs, rhyming, and introduce poetry in a fun way.
