CLUE Sudoku

CLUE Sudoku

by Patrick Blindauer

This is literally killer sudoku! Based on CLUE, Hasbro’s popular and award-winning decoding detective board game, these puzzles have an enjoyably murderous twist that adds to the challenge and the fun. In keeping with the original game, the grid has six suspects listed at the side (like Colonel Mustard and Miss Scarlet); six possible weapons on the bottom; and boxes inside referring to the game’s rooms. Solve the sudoku as usual, filling in the numbers from one to nine, with no repeats. But when you’re done, you’ll also have the solution to the CLUE mystery, too—whodunit, with what, and where.

I love Sudoku and CLue so I though thtis would be a great combo. The Sudoku is great with a variety of levels that you can pass through to the final more challenging puzzles. I like the CLue aspect but got a little bored with it after a few puzzles. I do Sudoku for hours but found I got tired of the Clue game and skipped many of those to go back later and do them. Still a great Sudoku book.

The addition of The Killer Numbers is like having a second puzzle per page. As a long time fan of CLUE it is a treat to find the location of the crime, which then identifies the murderer and weapon. I will probably use copies for family stocking stuffers this Christmas, and possibly introduce the older grandchildren to this Double Challenge.

I found this book a fun change from regular sudoku because of the clue twist. After solving the puzzles, you still have to figure out the murderer. It was a fun book.

I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent, and am good at crosswords and other puzzles, but despite my best efforts, I have never gotten very good at Sudoku. Happily, I know a lot of people who are in the same boat--it has to do with how one's brain works. This book, with its gimmick of solving a Clue puzzle along with the Sudoku, adds a new dimension of enticement, and for those of us who have to, um, cheat occasionally, the Clue aspect offers a handy means of working backward to solve the Sudoku puzzle. Additionally, the book is printed on good quality paper, and was inexpensive, so that added more appeal. I've been motivated to do more puzzles, and am actually starting to make some progress. I recommend it.

Interesting new way to solve sudoku puzzles.

The puzzles are fairly easy. I thought the clue idea was cute but it's really kind of a waste of time. It doesn't add anything to the challenge. I thought it would be a little more interesting.
