Two days. One hotel room. Nothing but complete honesty between them.

Marc Chase is known in the small town of Petal, Georgia, for being the youngest—and some would say wildest—Chase brother. But when longtime family friend Liv Davis signs up for some personal training sessions, Marc realizes the only woman he wants has been right in front of him all along.

Mayor’s assistant Liv has been hurt too many times to let a Chase brother into her life—or into her bed. She’s ready for something more. Something she doesn’t think the six-years-younger Marc is ready to give. Until they share a wildly passionate kiss, that is. Then all bets are off.

Knowing he’ll need more than pretty words to break through Liv’s wall of heartbreak, Marc takes the gamble of his life to prove his love: two days away, full of hot sex and bared souls. But will this bet be enough to win her heart forever?

The Chase is on. One small town. Four hot brothers. And enough heat to burn up anyone who dares to get close. Don’t miss the other books in the series: Taking Chase, Giving Chase and Making Chase.

Chapter One

"Hey there. Whatcha doing in here?"

She nearly jumped out of her skin when Marc spoke behind her as she left the building on the side away from the crowds. "Jeez, give a girl a heart attack!"

"Sorry. I ran to my truck to grab a blanket. It's getting a bit cold. Should have known. It is mid-April."

He made no move to leave though. Standing there, staring at her mouth in the moonlight.

"Do I have sugar on my lips?" She felt slightly guilty for eating the popover and made a promise to herself to go and grab Bill a piece of something sweet.

He stepped forward and she had no place to go, the wall was at her back. "I don't know. Do you?" he murmured, his body just shy of touching hers.

"I ... uh." Before she could say anything else so spectacularly witty, he closed the last inch between them, his hand moving to cup her cheek.

"You're one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I've always thought so. Soft. You smell good too."

"Marc ..."

His lips brushed hers, just the barest hint of pressure but within a breath, that soft touch exploded and need so dire it scared her, welled up and swallowed her whole.

It must have been the same for him because he angled his mouth and went in for a real kiss this time. A skillful combination of teeth, tongue and lips all working to devastate her defenses. Her fingers gripped his shoulders, digging into the muscles, registering the softness of the sweater he was wearing.

His taste bloomed through her, spicy, delicious. It made something deep within her ache for a moment, seize and then warm all over. A soft moan escaped her and he swallowed it eagerly.

His hands, large and capable, held her hips, the tips of his thumbs stroking over the naked skin just beneath the hem of her sweater, just two inches shy of the bottom slope of her breasts.

That's what snapped her out of it, the longing, the yearning to reach down and move his hands up over her breasts and arch into his touch. She let go of his shoulders, sliding her palms down to push him back gently.

"Holy moley," Marc breathed out.

She nodded.

"When can you leave? We can go get a late drink somewhere or you could come to my place." Marc brushed a thumb over her bottom lip and she shivered.

"I'm here on a date, Marc. God, I shouldn't have done that." Especially because it awakened something deep inside her, a recognition that freaked her out. It was something she couldn't afford to feel. He wasn't capable of giving it back.

"Of course you should have. Olivia, this thing, that kiss has been brewing between the two of us for a long time now and you know it. We can go to dinner another night. I'm sorry for suggesting you dump your date. I know you're too kind to do that."

"I can't have dinner with you, Marc. Not tonight, not tomorrow night."

"Okay, well then come to my apartment. I'll make you dinner after I've had you three or four times." He grinned and she groaned, pushing him back so she could move away from the wall. She felt cornered in more ways than one. She vowed to eat a cupcake that very night. Two even. This addiction to dangerously handsome men without an ounce of desire to commit would be the death of her.

"There'll be no having!"

"Oh now, Olivia, don't be offended. I didn't mean it to sound crass."

She shoved a hand through her hair. "No, not that. I'm not offended. I'm flattered. Confused." Panicked, scared, freaked, aroused and a dozen other things it would not pay to feel. "But it can't happen, Marc. Not ever."

He narrowed his eyes at her. "You're joking. Olivia Davis, that was the single most hottest kiss I've ever shared with a woman and you were on fire in my arms. I felt your nipples through your sweater. You wanted me, you can't deny that."

Oy. "I'm not denying that. Yes, yes there's chemistry but there are too many reasons to not give in."

He put his hands on his hips. "Like what? You're single, I'm single. We're attracted to each other and you know we're going to be hot in bed together."

"Marc, you're too young for me. I'm six years older than you are. And," she held up her hand to silence him, "I've just recently decided that I'm done with casual relationships. I am not going out with another man who thinks of women as a box of chocolates and he has to sample every one. I want something real, something lasting and that's not what you want. I'm not judging you, Marc, but I want a relationship. I want to end up married."

He paled so much she could see it in the moonlight. She laughed tightly. She'd known it but it hurt to see his reaction anyway.

"See? Even the word freaks you out. You and I are friends. We really are and I like that. I like you. But this can't be more than a friendship, spectacular kiss or not. Now I have a date who'll be wondering where I am and you do too if I'm not mistaken. I'll see you on Monday when I come to work out."

She hurried off before she changed her mind.

Watching her walk away, Marc slammed his fist into his thigh in frustration. Friends? After that kiss? His lips tingled with her taste, his cock throbbed, pressing against the fly of his jeans.

"Too young my ass," he mumbled, heading back to where Becky Sue waited for him. It wasn't like Liv was old. She was gorgeous and totally in shape. He knew that for sure. He'd seen her body enough as he worked with her over the last month.

Images of her stretching and sweating assailed him until he pushed them firmly out of his mind or he'd go find her and fuck her against the trunk of the nearest tree. God, he wanted her bad and he knew she wanted him too. That was the kicker. This artificial barrier she'd created over their age difference was just dumb and she was using it to keep him away.

As he turned the corner he saw her with Bill, head tipped up, body leaning into his as they watched the sky. As if Marc had called her name, she turned toward him. Her gaze caught his for long moments until she let go and returned her attention to the fireworks.

Frustrated, he glanced back toward the blankets where Becky Sue waited with Cassie, Shane, Maggie and Kyle. He smiled when he caught Kyle placing his palms over Maggie's growing baby bump. They were good together.

He froze a moment. Marriage? Liv said she wanted long term. Said she wanted to get married. Okay, so he wasn't too young to have a nice fling with her but he was definitely not interested in marriage. Yikes. No, he'd go back to being her friend, sport a few furtive fantasies about bedding her and continue on with his happily unencumbered life. Marriage was for suckers and he was most certainly not a sucker. Yeah, sure.

I enjoyed this book! I have read most of Lauren Dane's books and this one is good!

The book was hard to get through. I like more action in the books I read. There really wasn't much at all going on with the characters except sex and that was boring. It did have one place that was heart touching and that saved the book. All in all I was disapointed because the first two were good.

First time reading this author and I loved the first series of the Chase Brothers. I could not put this book down, I had to buy the rest of the series. Bought the rest of the books on Saturday and just finished the lost one. Read the first book and I promise you, you will want to buy the rest.

This is Marc Chase and Liv's story in the 3rd book of the Chase Brothers series. The snorting got a little better in this book but was still pretty distracting

Book three is another good light read by Lauren Dane. I very much enjoyed this latest enstallment of the Chase brothers. Liv and Marc's story was a great depiction of the older woman younger man theme, which is often very hard to write believably. This was done extremely well. Ms. Dane carries her theme of damaged woman meeting up with the one man who gets them and their issues. I can't wait for book 4 about the final Chase brother Matt.

This is the first book that I read from the series and I must say I was not impressed. Marc and Olivia know each other for years and one day Marc starts feeling a strong attraction toward her. At first, denaying it but after sharing hot kiss he becomes determined to have here. Olivia wants husband and family but she had bad luck in finding the one. When Marc starts to show interest in dating her she doesn't believe him because of his reputation. Marc and she came to an agreement and they start seeing each other but Marc ex-ruins everything. I didn't connect with the characters. Although strong was Live full of insecurities. The plot was for me also so-so, especially arrangement toward the end of the book. It is not all about the sex an I had a feeling that there was too many of it like to fill the void. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

You know that moment when you are enjoying a great story... It is steamy, actually sizzling hot and you are afraid it will actually melt your kindle. It is entertaining, you like the characters, it is sweet, adorable, and even cute at times, and you're just enjoying the ride. And suddenly the speed bump comes and the emotions hit the high road, and instead of smiling and chuckling away you are weeping, and you feel the pain, you feel the confusion, the outrage, the fear, the utter panic, the need to stay the same and while wanting things to chance... Man, color me impressed, because I was not prepared for the emotional onslaught I got towards the second part of the tale when things get real, get genuinely emotional, and there is no escaping or ignoring the work ahead for Marc and Liv and their relationship. The stories of the Chase Brothers is a rerelease but new to me. I missed the first one, but the two I have read so far has been the perfect mix of meddling family, friends for life, small town living, romances that sweep you off your feet, and the deep emotions that make you remember the stories long afterward. I have been swooning on every second page because when the Chase brothers fall, they fall hard, they fall completely, they are 'besotted', and they go after what they want with the determination rarely seen, but none with the perseverance like Marc Chase when he figures out the one for him is Liv Davis. The relationship developing between Marc and Liv is not easy and the story captures about a year of their lives as they work on their issues while falling hard and deep for each other. I loved the honesty between all the characters, there were moments that were even a bit awkward because of the brutal honesty every single main character of the story had while fighting for their happiness and trying to clear path for it. The fact that Matt had dated Liv in the past had me a bit nervous at the beginning, as well as the dating Liv did after her and Marc's attraction flamed. But both of these matters were an intricate part of the character development that needed to happen for Matt, Marc, and Liv, for the tale of the brothers continues. Despite all the differences Liv tried to see in her and Marc, they are so amazingly perfect together, physically and sexually, umm... YES! But also as friends, partners, companions, and mates. The last part of the story flooded me with emotions, took me for a ride that I will not forget. Liv and Marc have to go through the ringer to be able to figure out their relationship because even the issues they are fighting against are not what they thought they were. Blissfully entertaining, sweetly ardent, and emotionally wrecking tale that left me with a teary smile and satisfied sigh of a great love story ~ Five Spoons

Book Info ebook Published by Harlequin - Carina Press (first published March 6th 2007) Original Title Chased (Chase Brothers, #3) ISBN13 9781488081262 Edition Language English Series Chase Brothers #3 Characters Marc Chase, Liv Davis settingPetal, Georgia (United States) Other Editions (10) Source:Netgalley EARC Buy book from Amazon B&N BOOK BLURB Liv Davis had just about given up on her happily ever after. Burned by love more than once, she’s beginning to think Mr. Right wasn’t in the cards for her. Marc Chase is a confirmed bachelor and lover of women—lots of them. He’s determined not to fall head over heels the way his brothers have. Until he kisses Olivia Davis and realizes head over heels may not be such a bad thing after all! Can Liv open her scarred heart for this younger ladies man? She loves Marc more than she can begin to admit but she’s terrified of being rejected again. Marc faces a challenge greater than he’s ever faced before. Making a woman believe he’s more than just a great bedmate—making her believe he’s in it for good. In the end it will all come down to two days in a hotel and a bet. Can they both win? My Thoughts Mr. Right keeps eluding Liv Davis. For years she has allowed herself to be drawn to men that she could keep at arms length which eventually lead to a break-up. The last person she had a long-term relationship with however was the last straw for Liv. Finding herself alone again leads to the resolution that there would be no more dead-end relationships, instead she would find the man who would finally give her the chance for marriage and a home filled with children. No more would she settle for just no-strings sex, in her mid 30's Liv has no more time to waste. What Liv does not want is to become involved with a younger man. A man who has proved that marriage is not something he has in mind since his reputation for having a revolving door where women are concerned is well earned. Marc Chase and Liv have known each other for years with no reason for either one of them to change their relationship from friends to something more meaningful. However both Liv and Marc have forgotten that the best laid plans take a backseat when we do not expect it to. Especially where the heart is involved. A friends to lovers romance with enough heat to scorch your eyes and enough drama to keep the pages turning. Another re-issue that I enjoyed and happy there is one more Chase brother so we get the chance to catch up with all the characters as well as see Matt Chase taken down just like the other three before him! This is an updated reissue of a previously published book. It's a great fun story and one you should read if you missed it previously. Marc may be the youngest of the Chase Brothers but he's the one with the biggest reputation as a player. Marc makes no apologies. He's young and free and plans on staying that way for a long time. That is until one kiss with Liv Davis changes everything. Now he has to make her see that not only does the six year age difference mean nothing but he's ready to change his ways. Is he up to the challenge and ready to put in the work it's going to take? I highly recommend this one.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review. At 34, Olivia Davis wants her Mister Right house, the picket fence and children, as her best friends have found. However, except for her BFF since kindergarten, Maggie, everyone has left her. She walked in on her last boyfriend with another woman. But now that Brody is out of the picture, Marc, the youngest Chase brother, younger brother of Maggie's husband and Olivia's previous boyfriend Matt, is showing interest in her. But she is hung up on his being 6 years younger and his reputation of being a flirt, with no interest of losing his bachelor status. Meanwhile, Marc has opened his own gym and realizes that he wants to make more changes in his life, and that he loves Liv and wants to make her his wife. But he will have to do some serious wooing to overcome Liv's self doubts and convince her that he is her Mister Forever. I read Giving Chase so many years ago that I don't remember what troubles had happened to Maggie and Olivia, so read the book as a stand alone, but with enough references to the secondary characters it works. The characters are adeptly developed and the conflicts quite real and relatable, with some steamy scenes expertly written.

Hmmmm. There is a great deal of telling more than showing in this book on the emotionial level and in character development and it kept me for completely engage in the romance.  I also felt that while Liv was forced to own up to her issues, Marc got away with not doing that in a real way and that made this book less satisfying than it could have been. It is still a nice read in the series. The last book is actually my favorite though.  If you like small town romances with close families, you will enjoy this one.
