A lonely young boy befriends a cranky cat and in the process learns about forgiveness. Young Charlie has had a rough time dealing with his mother's passing after her struggle with cancer. But with the help of his grandmother and her persnickety feline, Chocolate, he gains not only friendship and affection, but also an understanding of what it means to forgive. A beautifully illustrated children's story with a great message that all ages will love.

About the Author
J. Suthern Hicks was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and shortly after his birth moved with his parents to Thailand where his father was stationed in the United States Army. Thai became his first language, and when he returned to Arkansas at age five, he quickly learned English, and soon had a southern accent. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California where he has written several plays, including the acclaimed "Turtle Tears" which received accolades in 1995 from the Los Angeles Times, and Critics' Choice from the LA Weekly. His academic article "Television theme songs: A content analysis" was published in "Popular Music and Society" while he was still a graduate student. In January 2013 the band "Seven Years" recorded a collection of his songs which are now on iTunes. Mr. Hicks' first children's book, "Charlie and Chocolate's Purrfect Prayer," was published in 2014. His first novel, "Where the Garden Begins," was published in 2015. He is currently working on his second novel and continues to write songs when time allows.

I read the first book in this series and it was absolutely charming. This one did not disappoint. The illustrations are beautiful as well. I got them as gifts and will be getting more. It's very hard to find quality children's books anymore...glad to have found these.
