This is a wonderful book full of various species of insects. It discusses bugs by categories such as those that fly, crawl, leap, and change. It even discusses bugs that live in various habitats, such as the rainforest, or those that live in sandy places. The book is made up primarily of real photos of insects and their habitats, and each page is filled with various facts about each type of insect. I rated this book a 5/5 because of its immense attention to fact and detail.

I got this book for my 3 year old granddaughter so that she could become aware of "bugs" and not be afraid of them. The book has beautiful pictures and interesting information. I was disappointed that the book was about bugs world-wide and not just about North American bugs. I just wanted a book about bugs and stuff she might encounter in her own backyard or at the park. I kept the book and gave it to her for Christmas. She enjoys looking at the pictures and having it read to her so all was not lost.

Because of their awesome graphics and great pictures usually DK science books blow away the others. DK also is great with scientific content. So, pics are good for young kids, and science is good for older kids.

I didn't read this book but I got it for a gift for my neighbor boy. His father says that he reads it to him before bedtime.

This was a gift for a friend's 7yr birthday gift. Any book in this series was actually requested, but we chose 'bugs'. It was well-received by the recipient. I would certainly give as an age-appropriate gift again.

Even though it is for older children, the amazing photography holds my two year old's gaze. I, myself, have become intrigued by these creepy crawlies after learning some fascinating facts regarding their habits and anatomy. Some of the photographs send chills up my spine.
