Reason for Reading: next and last in the series.A powerful, exciting finale to a most enjoyable series. Coming up to this last book I had some trepidation. Would it be worth the journey? Would it be a satisfying end? I can wholeheartedly say yes to both those questions. First off we are presented with a nice fat volume considerably larger than previous volumes, letting us know we can settle down for a good read. Action-packed, with a conclusion worthy of the eight previous volumes it took to get here. All major characters have their fates determined and get closure and it is not all "happy, happy, joy, joy" for everyone either. I'm not going to say anything about plot in this review, you'll just have to read this far yourself to find out on your own. But I highly recommend the series. Some volumes are better than others, but all rated high with me, either 4 or 5 stars. The story takes turns towards the darkside and is lightened up every now and then with a humorous side story. And all throughout the story, even though it does get mighty dark at times the humour is always there too. My favourite characters were the Red Dragon, Ted the leaf bug, and Bartelby. My favourite of the main characters was Smiley Bone. If you haven't had the pleasure yet, take some time out and read the series as it is a great ride with a satisfying ending.

This is one of the best graphic novel I read. This book has a lot of action and humor in it. The bones, Thorn, and Gran'ma Ben are armed for battle to protect the city of Atheia. When thorn hears a voice urging her to seek the crown of Horns. Fone bone and Thorn went to a journey to find the Crown of Horns that can save them all!!! It's a very good book

In the conclusion to the Bone series, heroes fall, mad gods rise, and well, yeah, of course the heroes win the day. Smith manages to make it all properly exciting and poignant as needed, and this should satisfy any reader who has followed the series through to its end.

A war has started in the city of Atheia. The Bones, Gran'ma Ben and Thorn, are armed for battle to protect and defend the city against the evil Briar, the rat creatures, and the Pawan army. Thorn hears a voice telling her to look for the Crown of Horns, so Thorn and Fone Bone begin a very dangerous journey to find the Crown of Horns. Thorn needs to touch the Crown of Horns so the evil locusts will die. Fone Bone helps Thorn and she finally touches the wall of the Crown of Horns. During this time the dragons that were down below woke up and were in a rage. They came up from the ground and the rat creatures and the Pawan army took off. Thorn was then crowned Queen of the Valley.Teachers could use this book to encourage young readers to read. This type of material will gain non-readers.

This is the ninth and final book in Smith's Bone series. It did a very nice job of wrapping up the series, I loved it.The book starts out bleakly; Thorn and Fone Bone have been beaten and locked in the dungeon, Gran'ma Ben is on the ramparts trying to fight off hordes of rat creatures, and Lucius is missing. This book takes us through the final battle, the search for the Crown of Horns, and the events following.Illustration is in keeping with previous volumes and is very well done. I would recommend reading all previous volumes before this one so that you have a good appreciation for what is happening in this volume. The book starts bleak but there is a lot of humor peppered throughout. There are a couple nice twists in the story, although for the most part it ends as you would expect it to end. It is a very solid fantasy and I enjoyed how it all ended. The story was nicely wrapped up.There were some characters that I wish we had spent more time with; for example I think the character of Rock Jaw could have been used to make thing even more interesting.Overall this has been just a wonderful fantasy graphic novel series and this installment only added to the wonderfulness. If you haven't picked it up to read, you should! It is just a wonderful series. Now I will be picking up Tall Tales and the prequel novel about Rose. I will also be checking out the future release The Quest for the Spark illustrated by Jeff Smith and written by Thomas Sniegoski (who also write the Remy Chandler urban fantasy series which I enjoy).
