The book The Body Art Book, written by Jean-Chris Miller, was written as more of an informative nonfiction narrative. The major message of this book was to inform someone on the types, styles, history, and ways to be tattooed or pierced. This is a good book to consider when someone is unsure or trying to decided of what type f body art to have done. It was very descriptive and gave many different examples to why someone would want to get body art. My specific likes of this book was all of the details and explanations of different tattooing and piercing styles. I also really liked how the book made a clear note not to get a tattoo or a piercing just because someone does not want you to get it, you should always do it for yourself and never anybody other than just yourself. However, I would not recommend this book to anyone that I know because of the style of writing. It was very informative,  but short sections and sentences made the text boring to read. Some of the examples were really repetitive and the message and styles that the author kept mentioning, could have been summarized into a couple pages instead of a whole book. Some people might find this book interesting and helpful to decide on the body art they want, but the text was very bland. A person might find it easier, and more helpful, to talk to a tattooist or body modification professional, piercings and gauges, to get a better idea of the modern styles of body art.

The body art book is a great book for anyone interested in getting tattoos or piercings. A few of my favorite parts of the book was it gave a lot of information about what certain tattoos mean and how and where you should get a tattoo or piercing. It also gives an in depth history of tattoos and piercings and how it works today. The writing style is another quality that was good about the book because it was simple and easy to understand. I think this book is perfect for not only someone who is considering getting a tattoo but anyone interested in how tattoos and piercings work or how they became what they are today.

I think that this book show that no matter who you are, or what kind of profession you have, you can still wear your tatoos with pride...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the title says it all. Where was this book nine years ago, when I first started getting tattoos? This is a wonderfully informative book that not only focuses on tattooing, but body piercing as well. You get a little bit of history, little bit of eye-candy and A LOT of priceless information. If this book had been published in 1992, instead of 1997, I would have been better informed on my tattooing decisions and would NOT have let some of the people tattoo me that did. If you are considering acquiring a tattoo or body piercing, this is the book to get. You will definately come away informed for the better. Buy it! The only regrets you will have will be not getting it sooner.
