I finally had the opportunity to read the first two books in the Moon series by Lisa Kessler as the third book was coming out and I was asked to review the book by the publisher, Entangled. Since I read these books one after the other and I have not written a review for either of the previous two books, I wanted to make this review partly about what makes this such a fantastic series and then I will tell you why I enjoyed Gareth & Nadya’s book so much and why, in my opinion, this series will continue to get better with each book. I read all three books within the timeframe of a little more than three weeks; which is actually my favorite way to read a series. When you read them in order one after the other, the author’s vision for the characters is seen to clearly evolve from book to book. I also enjoy when you see secondary characters from one book become the primary couple in another in the series. For myself, I find it very interesting to assess these secondary characters and wonder who ends up with who? What kind of crazy or funny or (please no) heartbreaking scenes are going to be created by the issues we learn each character is battling as we get to know them? What type of super chaotic antics will ensue from the choices these characters make as they try to make a life with their mates?  The Moon series by Lisa Kessler has all the necessary qualities of a great romance series. It has a few running themes that each book stays true to even as it centers on the chosen couple. We are witness to the evolution of these unattached males as they discover their mates and begin the journey to claim them and build a life together. We get to know these young women who have stepped into a whole new world and are desperately trying to find their place in it. We sigh and smile as this couple stop fighting each other and give into the love they feel, becoming a strong unified heart. And of course this getting to know each other time always involves battling outside forces trying to keep them apart or disrupt or even destroy the lives they are building.  This life building runs alongside the ideas of personal responsibility and independence. I know that you think they contradict each other but they do not in these books because while each person is responsible for their own lives and is free to make their own choices and have their own opinions, when it comes down to it you stand together. You may fundamentally disagree with a choice someone else has made or vehemently oppose something they support, but that has no bearing on being PACK. The concept of PACK is the foundation that these books are built on and with each new book we discover more of what PACK really means. It’s bigger than family and stronger than a hug and wider than a smile and as protective as, well, as a wolf! PACK means you belong here and this is where you stay no matter what so we ALL can protect and ALL can fight for you and ALL can bleed & heal along with you. It’s about care and compassion and showing each other that no matter the little, day to day fights or squabbles or disagreements, when it comes right down to it we stand together. United. Us against anyone who dares challenge one of us because we stand together ALWAYS.  Blood Moon was about Gareth & Nadya and their struggles to find their way to each other and to stay together forever. Nadya was bitten by a deranged, genetically mutated werewolf at the end of the second book in the series. Unfortunately this bite begins a countdown to death for Nadya and modern medical science cannot do anything about it. For his part, Gareth has suffered a lot of loss in his life and as a consequence he has walled himself up inside. Even worse, he has begun to distance himself from the Pack since we first met him in book #1. Neither of these two had any reason to look for the love of a mate but from the moment they touched it was there, between them. Burning like a bonfire and refusing to be ignored or go away. The books in this series are all about the challenges that the mate pair faces in order to prove to themselves, their PACK and the universe at large that they do deserve this amazing person and this chance at happiness that has been given to them. Each person in the relationship will grow & change &slowly become the person they were meant to be; strong, compassionate, genuine, amazing and capable of carrying their mate when life causes him/her to stumble. This is absolutely a series that gets better with each new book, as we get to know these amazing men, who happen to be wolves and their jaguar or (mostly) human mates. The other half of each one’s soul.

Gareth is a loner in his werewolf pack after the death of his twin. Gareth is shocked that Nadya wants him to be with her on her first turn. But a part of him is secretly glad as he is attracted to her.  Gareth does not want to care or be attracted to Nadya because everyone he  loves dies.  First his parents then his twin is killed by a jaguar shifter.  Nadya is coming to grips that she is dying after one of Nero's super werewolf bit her.  The main reason Nadya wants Gareth to be with her is because she is an empath.  She feels everyones feelings and does not want to be overwhelmed by them.  Turning into a wolf is stressful enough without feeling everyone's emotions.   WIth the promise that if anything happens Gareth will let the pack know, her wish/feeling are granted.   Nadya has had feeling for Gareth from the first time she met him.  Is her love for him  for him enough to take a chance on loving and getting close to someone again?  Will Gareth be able to claim her as his mate knowing she may be dying?  Please read this fantastic book in the moon series.  Lisa Kessler has done it again.   ***I received a copy in exchange for an honest review from author***

4.5 Stars This is the 3rd book in the Moon series and although I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the first two, it was still a really good book! Nadya has been bitten by a genetically enhanced werewolf and her future is now uncertain. It isn't known exactly what will happen to her or how her body will cope with the change. Gareth has been pushed to the edge, he is struggling with his grief and unsure of his place in the pack, when he is tasked with aiding Nadya it unravels a whole other set of emotions that he isn't sure how to deal with. One kiss changes everything and now they have to deal with the fallout, whatever that may be. I truly felt for both Nadya and Gareth, especially with the events in the previous books and I wasn't impressed with how they are dealing with the consequences of other peoples decisions. I feel as if Blood Moon has barely scraped the surface of Gareth and Nadya's story and I can't wait to see how things play out in subsequent books. Sebastian still intrigues me and I am looking forward to discovering his secrets. It feels as if Lisa is really hitting her stride with her writing, the stories are flowing really well and they are one sitting reads that have pride of place on my keeper shelf. I'll definitely be continuing with the series! ARC received from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

One bite can change you. And one kiss can change your destiny...  Nadya Dalca has been handed a death sentence. She's been bitten by the last living genetically enhanced werewolf¿part of the Nero Organization's disastrous Moonlight project. With the poisonous blood now coursing through her system and pushing her to the limits, it is only a matter of time before Nadya's fate is sealed... Gareth Takoda told himself he couldn't get involved. Caught up in a maelstrom of grief and bitterness, he has been isolating himself from his Pack. But when he is charged with watching over Nadya's first transformation¿or bear witness should it go horribly wrong¿Gareth is torn further by unwanted desire and the need to protect what is his. One kiss changes everything. One shattering, all-consuming kiss. And with it, Nadya and Gareth face either salvation...or death.  Review: Very engaging story! I have not read any of Ms. Kessler's other works and did not know that this was a third book in a series.  I quite enjoyed her writing style and thought the characters were well-written and made me as the reader want to know more about them.  This being a third story there was a lot of references to things that happened in the other books.  Now, I don't think it hurt me as a reader to read them out of order, but I think I would have liked it better if I had read them in order.  Another thing I liked about the story was the use of Native American folklore and the hero in the story being of Native American descent.  I think it added a unique flavor to the story. I thought Nadya was an excellent heroine, she has been dealt a sucky hand when she was bitten by the enhanced werewolf.  She knows that her time is running short and while she tries to find a cure, she does not just lay around groaning "woe is me"  she is out there trying to live life to the fullest.  Gareth at first seems like your typical, brooding, bad-boy.  He really is so much more once you learn his history. Though, Gareth was on my bad list when he ran away knowing Nadya is his one true mate.  He did make it up to her and those scenes were very touching and sexy.  I really liked how the folklore and woven with Nadya's resolution at the end. Great story, now to go back and read the first two books! 4Stars

Definitely different in a good way! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories with strong characters, shifters, battles for life and a big dose of romance! This is a definitely different werewolf tale involving genetically altered werewolf experimentation being carried out by Nero, a government/military funded agency. One of their secret Lycan Squad bit Nadya Dalca, injecting poison into her veins and this poison has already proved fatal to all the others. She has moved away to live with a pack of shifters and her innate empathic abilities may have saved her so far but Nero scientists are still have plans for her. She wants to live, not be condemned to a paranoid, vicious life and painful death like members of the Lycan Squad. The werewolves don’t trust Nero, should she rely on them to help her escape the same state? Gareth Takoda is a werewolf shifter who has generally isolated himself from the pack. After the deaths of his parents and murder of his twin brother he’s determined not to let love leave his heart open to more pain but Nadya keeps visiting him and when they kiss – wow!! How can Nadya escape the fate of the Lycan Squad and the Nero scientists wishing to experiment further on her? Can Gareth face losing another loved one? Will love and fated mates find a way? As usual, you’ll just have to read the book to find the answer! Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley too for letting me read this book in exchange for this, an honest review.

Blood Moon, (Moon 3),  Lisa Kessler. Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Paranormal romance, Onto the third in the series now, and the overall story is fast gaining pace and becoming established as a real battle against the Nero organisation. Poor Nadya, orphaned at a young age and cared for by her beloved sister  Sasha, she’s now facing a death sentence. Sasha had escaped Nero’s clutches in the last book, and is about to marry werewolf Aren. As a last ditch attempt to hurt her a maddened, psychotic Nero werewolf bit her sister, leaving Nadya infected with the virus Nero had been experimenting with, which so far has sent all infected subjects mad very quickly.  The Pack doctor Jason has been trying to help Nadya, so far as they know there’s no cure, only a descent into painful madness and certain death in days, weeks, possibly a few months. Jason has feelings for Nadya, they’ve dated a couple of times prior to her bite and he’d love more, but that’s all on hold for now. In an attempt to help her he allows a Nero scientist to inject her with a serum he says may help, in exchange for copies of test data on her. Its a difficult decision, they have to keep it secret from the Pack Alpha who certainly wouldn’t approve of dealings with anyone from Nero, and of course there’s no guarantee it will help,  but it’s all they have for now and Nadya wants to try.  She’s always been drawn to Gareth, but he keeps himself apart from people, being very closed and solitary since the death of his brother at the hands of Nero. He’s always made it clear too he doesn’t care about anyone else, including Nadya, since his twin died, too wrapped up in his own grief. Poor Nadya is an empath and the emotions of everyone feeling sorry for her can get overwhelming at times, but oddly she doesn’t get them from Gareth, and one night feeling really down and in need of someone to just talk to, someone who’ll be honest with her she seeks him out. They talk a little, argue a bit and then he walks her back, even though they argued he can’t bring himself to be ungentlemanly and leave her alone in the dark, its not how he was raised. One touch is all it takes, one touch that happens almost without thought from either of them, just an age old instinct, one searingly sensual and addictive kiss and they’re both breathless and shocked. He doesn’t want a Mate who’s dying, can’t face losing yet another person close to him and he scarpers. He’d planned to leave soon anyway, being with the Pack just brings back too many sad memories, but this makes him go that night – a real moonlight flit. Poor Nadya, she’s heard about Mates, but until she experienced it she didn’t really believe it. She understands why he’s gone, its hard on her, really hard, but she can see why he won’t stay. The others though aren’t so understanding. Jason especially is cross, but then he doesn’t believe the Mate story either. He still hopes to be able to have Nadya somehow, and still wants a chance to be with her even when she tells him she only feels for him as a friend... Its another fun, sexy read, with the different factors really coming clear now. I was a bit puzzled by the military/Nero separation at first but its become clearer as the stories go on, likewise the mix of people in the pack. I like the introduction of Gareth’s Native Indian relative, Chloe, a real Wise Woman and a gem. I hope we see more of her. Her part and the lake added that extra bit needed to make this story complete.  Its a really fun series, and one I’d love to read right through on a back to back session one day.    Stars: Four and a half, not quite the five, though the series as a whole read together for me is a five star one. Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆ Tall, dark, sexy and Native American describes perfectly the hero in Lisa Kessler’s Blood Moon book three in the Moon Series. The flavor of this paranormal romance is mystical, while at the same time it is suspense filled, sizzling hot drama! Ms. Kessler has a way with words that weaves a storyline that keeps her readers turning the pages looking for answers. This highly entertaining novel tells the story of two fated mates and magical journey they take to find their forever with each other. What do you do when you are told you are going to die? Nadia Dalca was handed a death sentence when a genetically engineer werewolf attached her. Madness, violence and death are the only things that she can know for sure will happen. Even the support of her sister and the wolf pack cannot undo what has happened, but Nadia refuses to live what is left of her life giving up without a fight. She is pulled to Gareth Takoda, a member of the pack and a wolf filled with grief. He is the only one that she craves to be around during her last days. He has lost to much, he cannot allow himself to care for Nadia. She is the sunshine to his sorrow and the calming touch to his tortured soul. But she is dying and nothing can save her. Gareth knows that he cannot take another lost. The lost of his twin brother still haunts him and if he gets to close to Nadia, he would not survive her lost. One kiss and he realizes that she is his mate! How can he stay and watch her die, how can he leave and not be there for her? Why is this happening to him, he has already lost to much? But maybe there is hope! The way of his people may hold the answer to his saving his mate, if he will let go and accept it. If you are looking for a phenomenal read, one that will keep you turning the pages, look no more. This novel is a beautifully written love story with Native American overtones, with unforgettable characters. The dialogue is sexy, witty and filled sexual innuendos. Blood Moon is an excellent addition to my paranormal library.

I haven't read the book in this series that shows Nadya being bitten, and that's a shame. However, that in no way interfered with my enjoyment of this book. I liked the occasional intermixing of one of the villain's POVs through his notations about studying the subject (aka Nadya). The romance between Nadya and Gareth. These two really had a lot of things they had to work out, not the least of which was, of course, the fact that Nadya's time was extremely limited, based on what they knew of people who'd been messed with by the Moonlight project individuals (I really need to read earlier books, just because I WANNA KNOW!). Gareth was already suffering through the loss of his twin, and then to find out he's mated to a woman likely to die in less than a month? Yeah, he's got a raw deal and he does what any self-respecting man (or woman) would do - he runs. And I totally get that, and don't resent him for being a jerk. He's suffered so much. Nadya - I loved that she knew she was dying, but she absolutely wasn't going to give into it or give up. She fought the death knell with every ounce of her strength and I totally rooted for her to win. The ending was wonderful and I can't wait to read more of these books. I'm such a Kessler fan. Blood Moon, the third part of the Moon Series is one of Lisa Kessler's best. From beginning to end, you're drawn into the world of Naydia and Gareth. At the end of Hunter's Moon, Naydia was bitten by one of Nero's super wolves, transforming her from human into one of Nero's monsters. Naydia never knows when she'll change into the monster.  Jason is determined to save Naydia, even if it means getting in bed with the enemy. He thinks he has everything under control. Only thing is, Nero is pumping up the serum hoping to force Naydia's change.  Gareth is determined to save his mate. Once he faces his demons, dealing with the loss of his parents, his brother's murder, he has one more battle to face. Can he be strong enough for Naydia, with her terminal prognosis? This is a story of facing reality, welcoming the good, not dwelling in self pity. Each moment is a gift. When you find the love of your life, embrace it as the gift it is. Lisa Kessler has written another winner!

This is the third of this series that I have read and I have love each of them. However Blood Moon was the best one. It told a story of someone that had lived with so much pain in his life and was still willing to take a chance on the love of his life, even if it was for a short time. I loved the dedication, love and passion in Blood Moon!!! And with all of that there was also adventure and excitement through out the book. I have read many love stories, but this one is by far one of the best!!! Thank you Lisa for yet another great adventure you have given us!!! Happy reading and writing* Teresa

Loved It!! This was a great book by Lisa Kessler! This is the third book in the Moon series and it is just as good as the others. Each book can be read as a standalone, but you might as well read them all because they are great. This is Nadya and Gareths story. Nadya was bitten by a genetically enhanced werewolf that went crazy. It has left her with a death sentence to die the same way the monster that bite her died. She is determined to live her life to the fullest since she knows she is dying. Nadya is also an empathy, she asks Gareth to watch over her while she shifts for the first time because she has a hard time feeling his emotions. Gareth has kept to himself since his twin brother was murdered and has tried avoiding Nadya because he has feelings for her. When they kiss for the first time, they both realize that they are mates, but Gareth runs, he doesn’t not want to live and have to watch her die. This book kept me reading all night because I couldn’t put it down. I loved this book all the way to the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Nayda is living with the werewolf pack in Reno. She has been infected with mutated werewolf DNA. There is no cure and she doesn't know how long she'll live. As she tries to move forward, she finds her destined mate, Gareth. He is struggling with the loss of his brother and is afraid to love. Can the make the most of their time together? Nadya is a strong woman who cares for those around her. She faces her fate with courage and a smile. She's drawn to Gareth even though he pushes her away. I understood Gareth's pain. He lost his family and his heart is broken. I didn't want him to run from Nadya and her love. The way they connected was powerful and touching. I was pulled into this emotional story. I wanted them to triumph and be together. I enjoyed catching up with familiar characters from earlier Moon series books. Pyramid Lake and the Stone Mother's tale added so much to the plot. As always Lisa Kessler wrote a suspenseful, paranormal story that kept me on the edge of my seat. I hope that one day we learn more about Sebastian. Blood Moon is a romantic and emotional story that kept me reading past my bedtime. I loved it.

a movng story about redemption, true love and hope. and also a story about choices and how you make them ****A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review**** Nadya Dalca was bitten by a genetically enhanced werewolf –one whose is part of the Nero Organization’s disastrous Moonlight project. With every moment that passes, Nadya looses alittle more and can end up dying due to this bite.Everyone is searching for the cure to keep her from dying from the bite Gareth Takoda is a werewolf, he has isolated himself from the pack ever since his twin brother’s death at the hands of a jaguar shifter. Nadya has fallen in love with Gareth and her wolf has fallen for Gareth too. When Gareth realizes that Nadya is his mate, he leaves because he doesn’t think he can handle it, losing her. Nadya was devastated because as she saw it, he left he when she needed him the most. This story is about the choices and how we handle this. Especially for Nadya and Gareth and how they handle those choices. How they make those choices that could pul them apart and/or bring them closer together. I will say how Nadya's salvation came about was unique and very moving. This is a moving story about forgiveness for past choices and embracing the here and now.  I am new to the Moon series but this can be read as a stand alone. I cant wait to read more in this series. My rating: 4.5 stars ****

My very favorite scene was an extremely innovative sex scene on a Harley.  OMG!  It was HOT!   Gareth - “No room in my world for drama, and the last thing I needed was more death. This beautiful woman would bring me both.” Nadya - “He looked dangerous, but in the short time I’d known him, he’d always made me feel safe." BLOOD MOON by Lisa Kessler is another captivating paranormal romance in Lisa's Moon series featuring her Reno, Nevada wolf pack. While this book could technically be read as a standalone since Lisa fills in the basics of what the reader needs to know, your enjoyment will be exponentially increased if you've read the previous books in the series first as there are interconnected characters and a continuing story thread. I've read the previous books and have grown quite attached to many of the characters so - besides the awesomeness of a new story - it's a treat to catch up with my favorite characters in each installment. The whole series is truly fantastic. Those previous books are: • MOONLIGHT (Moon #1) • HUNTER'S MOON (Moon #2) Lisa dedicated BLOOD MOON to her Mom "who stared into the abyss twice and always came back fighting." Having lived through her Mom's life/death struggles, Lisa shares a plethora of emotional wisdom within BLOOD MOON's pages such as “I don't care if we only have a few days together, I want to spend every second by your side. I want to memorize every curve of your face, and I want to see you smile and kiss that dimple in your cheek.” and “We don't know how much time one spirit will spend in our lives, but love is too precious to hide from it. A chance at real love is worth the risk. . I could feel Lisa's love for her Mom as she honored her Mom's battles with this book. BLOOD MOON picks up right where HUNTER'S MOON ended.  My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club.  4 1/2 Wine Glasses!

I really enjoyed this book by Lisa Kessler and was once again captivated by her characters, the emotion, and the paranormal world she creates. The story itself had a bit of everything – romance, angst, mystery, suspense, action, some hot & steamy times, and even a wedding – but what sets all of Kessler’s books apart is her ability to create relationships between the characters she creates that allow you to feel like you are in the story with them, watching the events unfold. Nadya was such a great, strong heroine. I loved the fact that even though it would have been so easy for her to give up and resign herself to the death sentence that she had been handed, she chooses to live and fight, and enjoy to the fullest every moment she may have left... “I love you, Nadya.” She hugged me tight, her voice soft against my ear. “I can’t lose you. I won’t.” “I’m not going anywhere.” I shook my head. “You raised me to be strong and fight.” Gareth was my favorite kind of hero – the damaged bad-boy. He has faced so much loss in his life, and protects himself the only way he knows how…if he doesn’t allow himself to care about anyone, he can protect himself from the inevitable loss that will happen. And with one kiss his whole world is turned upside down, and he must figure out how to protect himself from the fallout, knowing fate has surely set him up again. "Staring down at her, I wanted to pull her close and taste her lips. But kissing her wouldn't change her fate, or mine." On top of all issues surrounding Gareth and Nadya’s relationship, we also had to deal with a government scientist with an agenda, a pack doctor who was hoping to have Nadya for himself, and Nadya’s sister’s wedding. Throw all these things together and you have not only a great romance, but a wonderful mystery/suspense that continues the story from the previous books in the series. My only complaint with this book would be that I wanted more – the ending wrapped things up very quickly and I really wanted to know more about the whole Dream Walker thing. But overall, I really loved this book and can’t wait for the next story. This is definitely one to add to your TBR list! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.

A sexy thriller that has you hooked from the beginning. Nadya has been given a death sentence and only wants to make sure her family is safe from whatever may be happening to her. Gareth after having been left so many times just wants to be left alone. Can these to heal each other? A great paranormal read, Gareth is an excellent alpha male and Nadya is strong enough to keep up with him. The story has lots of suspense, secrets and surprises, looking forward to more from this series.

I've read Moonlight (Moon #1), and Hunter's Moon (Moon #2)and was religiously checking both Lisa Kessler, and Entangled Publishing's sites for word on when this book would come out. I got so excited to see this in my inbox in exchange for an honest review. Moonlight was one of the first paranormal books that really pulled me in and opened me up to that genre. Without it, I wouldn't have ever tried Lisa Kessler's Night series which is just behind the Moon series for me.  Can you read Blood Moon as a stand alone? Technically, yes. The author does give enough set up that you can figure out what's going on but why would you want to? This book does touch on characters from previous books, and sets up other characters for possibly having future books.  Blood Moon continues right where Hunter's Moon ended. Nero, the organization that knows of the existence of shifters, and is trying to use them for their own gain is still out there. Nadya, who was bitten by one of Nero's genetically enhanced soldiers, is trying to set aside the self pity and live every day she has to the fullest since none of the other genetically enhanced shifters has survived. The pack has accepted her as one of their own, and is doing their best to care for and protect her.  Gareth, still trying to find his way through his anger and grief, continues to separate himself from his pack. It's his lack of emotions that causes Nadya to ask for him to guide her through her first shift. It's this first shift that starts to open their eyes to one another, but will it be enough to keep Gareth engaged with his pack? Will they find a cure for Nadya's illness? Will Nero come back? What about Gareth's plans for revenge? I finished this book in one sitting. Loved it and can't wait for the next one. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars for me was the ending. The ending just came up pretty quick and I wish it had been a little longer, though it wouldn't keep me from reading it again.  P.s. I'm really hoping Sebastian gets his own book sometime!
