A Note from Dr. Ghosh Smoothies make a great solution for mouth sores, as they are soothing. Because citrus foods can make the discomfort worse, kiwifruit, watermelon and bananas are good choices.

Watermelon-Kiwi-Banana Smoothie
Prep Time: 10 Minutes | Start to Finish: 10 Minutes | 2 servings (1 cup each)

1 cup coarsely chopped seeded watermelon
1 kiwifruit, peeled, cut into pieces
2 ice cubes
1 ripe banana, frozen, peeled and cut into chunks
¼ cup chilled apple juice

1 In blender, place all ingredients. Cover; blend on high speed about 30 seconds or until smooth.
2 Pour mixture into glasses.

Grandma Eva's Gingersnaps

Prep Time: 1 Hour 25 Minutes | Start to Finish: 2 Hours 25 Minutes | 4½ dozen cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons baking soda
1½ teaspoons grated gingerroot
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves or cardamom
¾ cup butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
½ teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
¼ cup sugar

1. In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, gingerroot, salt, cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg and cloves.
2. In large bowl, beat butter with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add 2/3 cup sugar; beat until well blended. Beat in molasses, vanilla and egg. On low speed, beat in flour mixture until combined. Cover dough; refrigerate 1 to 2 hours for easier handling.
3. Heat oven to 350°F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in ¼ cup sugar; place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
4. Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.

Caribbean Chicken Salad
Prep Time: 20 Minutes | Start to Finish: 20 Minutes | 4 servings

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into ½-inch strips
2 tablespoons blackened seasoning blend
1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil
1 bag (5 oz) mixed baby salad greens (4 cups)
1 medium mango, peeled, pitted and diced (1 cup)
½ medium red onion, sliced (¾ cup)
1 small red bell pepper, chopped (½ cup)
2/3 cup raspberry vinaigrette

1 Place chicken in heavy-duty resealable food-storage plastic bag. Sprinkle seasoning blend over chicken; seal bag and shake until chicken is evenly coated.
2 In 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 7 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until no longer pink in center. Remove chicken from skillet; drain on paper towels.
3 In large bowl, toss salad greens, mango, onion and bell pepper; divide among 4 plates. Top with chicken. Drizzle with vinaigrette.
