I have approximately 5 bread machine only cookbooks and this is the only one I use. I suppose if you are looking to make purely artisan breads, you may want to look elsewhere. But then again, if you are looking to make purely artisan breads, you probably won't be using a bread machine either.

I've made about 2/3 of the recipes in this book and all except a very few have turned out wonderfully. The few that didn't were because my bread pan was the wrong size and I was warned upfront that I wouldn't get the best results (still with the addition of just a couple extra tablespoons of water the bread turned out and was actually pretty good). The Sally Lund bread is my husband's all time favorite (and especially good for French Toast).

The directions for each loaf are basically the same with the ingredients listed (usually, but not always) in order of wet ingredients to dry ingredients at the top of the page. Any important information or suggestions are highlighted on the side of the page. They are very simple and straightforward and before you know it you will be making some of the more intricate breads made with the dough only cycle.

The book has a "quaint" feel to it so I am tempted to think that there should be more (which is why I own 5 of these books) but after looking at recipe after recipe I always seem to come back to this one (perhaps it has to do with the pictres). So far it hasn't failed me.

I'm really enjoying trying the recipes. I try to do a new one each time, although my husband already has begun a list of his favorites! The variety is incredible. I'll make bread for morning toast lather with PBJ. I'll make bread just for sandwiches. The other day I made Cottage Dill Loaf - wow - great for Tuna, Chicken and Cheese sandwiches! This morning, as I'm writing this review, the dough is rising for Hot Cross Buns. I recommend this book to all. As a beginner, I'm amazed how wonderful the breads come out! Be sure to read the info section at the beginning of the book first, as it is very helpful.

I got this book for Christmas along with my new breadmaker. I have *never* made any kind of bread before, so I could use all the help I could get. This book has been invaluable to me. I have tried numerous recipes and they all have turned out perfectly!! I highly recommend this book!

This is a great cookbook for bread machines with lots of great recipes. I have made several of the breads in this cookbook and have not been disappointed with any of them.
