I was lucky enough to be involved with the Batman Masterpieces book, an adaptation of the Batman Masterpieces trading card set.
Now, although many stores classify it as a graphic novel, it's not, although there is a story involved. In fact, there are several: one, the fictional story of who killed Batman (written by veteran Batman writer Doug Moench), and the other non-fictional story of how these cards came to life (written by me, after extensive interviews with all the artists involved).
It's a perfect book for anyone interested not only in Batman, good fiction and trading cards, but also interested in professional illustration in general.
I made sure that the text provides a nice look into painting styles, creative techniques, and approaches to work.
It's not a textbook, but if you've ever been curious about how professional illustrators go about it (or if you just like a good thriller) you might want to check it out.
Thank you, Ruth Morrison
