I read this book as a child and have never forgotten it. Taking care of babies seemed like so much fun! This book led to my desire to teach and to become a foster mom. I just adopted twin girls this week and ordered the book for them.

We just finished reading Baby Island for the third time; this time my 2nd grade daughter was the reader. I loved this book and cannot recommend it more. If you know a girl who loves adventure, this is the book for her. It is charming and full of courage and wit.

An adorable little book that I still like to reread on occasion. It's hard not to get sucked into the indomitable pluckiness and optimism that permeates the story. Despite the concept of being castaway and marooned on a deserted island, life for the two young girls and their four even younger charges is painted as being rather idyllic and pleasant, encountering very little in the way of real danger. Very enjoyable.

Well there are four children on the cover; one is definatly a baby, the other three seem to be a toddler (2), and two other boys they look either both 4 or 4 and 5.

I have it in a soft cover version and could read it all day. It is a great book for all ages and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good adventure story that's a little bit different.

I read and re-read this book more than any other as a kid...I never wanted it to end!How IDYLLIC...for a 10 year old girl-(me)-to be shipwrecked and PARENTLESS on an island with four BABIES!I always remembered the way they so carefully tried to keep track of which twin was which.I believe it was this book that made me crazy for babies and steered me into child-oriented fields.Love it.
