Chubby puppies, furry kittens, fuzzy chicks, downy ducklings: Gyo Fujikawa’s lovable baby animals will captivate children. They’re big (elephants) and small (mice), plump (piglets), and playful (lambs). With each picture, kids learn a little bit about the animal—the sound it makes, how soft it might feel, and what it can do. Plus, they’ll discover something else very important: that very young creatures have to be petted, snuggled, and hugged very gently…just like the children themselves.

This is a wonderful first book for infants and young children. Each story idea lasts for two pages, so short attention spans aren't a problem. The pictures of both babies aqnd baby animals are delightful and the wording is pleasing to the ears. I've read this book to two generations and am looking forward to reading it to a third. It makes a great start to a new baby's library.

This title was the absolutely favorite of my first child, who is 42 now! His sisters loved it too. I was so happy to find it for my grandchildren! I love Gyo Fujikawa's illustrations in any book but this one is the most important to our family!

It's a wonderful book, and the illustrations make me want to smile! My daughter loves the book as much as I do.

This was one of my daughter's favorite books when she was little. She is about to have her own baby soon, and we bought a new copy to add to the baby's collection of books. The illustrations are adorable, the story is simple and sweet, and we know that it will be well loved.
