Overview

When Joules and Kevin Rockman’s parents drop them off at Camp Whatsitooya on their way to an International Spamathon, the twins expect a summer of marshmallows, campfires, and canoe trips. What they do not expect is to defend the earth from an invasion of sugar-addicted, murderous, seven-foot-tall rabbits from another galaxy. Happily, the Rockman twins, veteran watchers of the Late, Late, Late Creepy Show for Insomniacs, are unusually well-prepared for dealing with monstrous beings from outer space. If only their fellow campers were so lucky.

Andrea Beaty, author of several very funny picture books and a mysterious novel, here reaches new heights of hilarity and verbal dexterity in a novel sure to become a camp—ba-dum-dum—classic.

Grade 3 and up- Twins, Joules and Kevin are sent off to Camp Whatsitiooya while their parent go off to a Spam festival. That sets off a fun romp through summer camp with zombie counselers, fierce large ugly ferocious fluffy bunnies, spam juice, marshmallows. "Attack of the Fluffy Bunnies" is a hilarious tale echoing the tradition of science fiction stories about what can happen if aliens attack Earth. FLUFFS - Fierce, Large, Ugly, Ferocious, Furballs were completely different from earth rabbits - FLUFFS come from the distant Mallow Galaxy, have no predators, and have come to earth to eat all the "sweet humans." Joules and Kevin Rockman were excited to go to Camp Whatsittooya for the summer instead of going with their parents - a Chemist and a Physicist - for a SPAM cookoff and convention. Their trip to summer camp goes awry when the FLUFFS eat the camp counselors and are about to take over all the children of the camp - when Joules and Kevin deduce that the FLUFFS can be defeated with their mom's secret sauce made of SPAM juice as they noticed one of the FLUFFS human disguise melted when it touched Joules - Kevin figured that their DNA may have been strengthened by SPAM. Although the plot of the story seems outrageous, it sends an effective lesson to children ages 9-12 about the powers of observation, being able to logically deduce to solve challenging problems, and most importantly being creative and quick thinking.

My 11-year old daughter reluctantly read it for a book report (she needed a sci-fi book but doesn't like sci-fi) and ended up loving it. She recommended it to her 9-year old brother who loved it even more.

The cats of Bramblepaw's former clan changed their name to ChaosClan. Bramblepaw's tree was called the Death Tree. No one in ChaosClan knew whether he is or isn't in the tree or not, because they can't see him hidden in his bramble bush, waiting for his next victim, but they know that either way the Death Tree is cursed by him because cats started to go missing after the ChaosClan Incident. And they pile of bones by the Death Tree makes it obvious. ChaosClan's medicine cat, Gnatwhisker, chose who their leader was and then got a message from the Dark Forest saying that Bramblepaw has changed his name to Brambleblood and if you don't call him that, he will come. Also, on the anniversary of the ChaosClan Incident, the whole clan has to spend the whole day without eating, drinking, talking, or leaving camp. If any cat breaks tha rule, they will get sacrificed to the Death Tree. THE END. (Stay tuned for Brambleblood's Story:The Curse of the Death Tree in asap results 1-5. Special thanks to Jaystar and Jaysoar for posting positive reviews. Also special thks to Ravenstar from Ravenstar's Prophecy for giving me the idea to write a book. And thank you to whoever read this because i spent a LOT of time writing this.)
