Book store nation, in the history of mankind there has never been a greater country than America. You could say we're the #1 nation at being the best at greatness.

But as perfect as America is in every single way, America is broken! And we can't exchange it because we're 236 years past the 30-day return window. Look around—we don't make anything anymore, we've mortgaged our future to China, and the Apologist-in-Chief goes on world tours just to bow before foreign leaders. Worse, the L.A. Four Seasons Hotel doesn't even have a dedicated phone button for the Spa. You have to dial an extension! Where did we lose our way?!

It's high time we restored America to the greatness it never lost!

Luckily, AMERICA AGAIN will singlebookedly pull this country back from the brink. It features everything from chapters, to page numbers, to fonts. Covering subject's ranging from healthcare ("I shudder to think where we'd be without the wide variety of prescription drugs to treat our maladies, such as think-shuddering") to the economy ("Life is giving us lemons, and we're shipping them to the Chinese to make our lemon-flavored leadonade") to food ("Feel free to deep fry this book-it's a rich source of fiber"), Stephen gives America the dose of truth it needs to get back on track.

About the Author

Stephen Colbert was The Daily Show's longest-running and most diverse correspondent. His personality, insight and overall rightness could only lead to The Colbert Report, a half-hour nightly platform for him to give his take on the issues of the day, and, more importantly, to tell you why everyone else's take is just plain wrong. The show has been hugely successful.

American Again was very funny! I laughed a lot. Great read! I enjoyed it. The eye-popping 3D really made it come to life. Stephen Colbert put funny side notes in and footnotes which made the book even better. Funny pictures too. I recommend it!

NOT FOR NOOK HD (no PagePerfect, i.e. graphically enhanced, books are).   They don't tell you this when you purchase a NOOK HD - which is the updated version of the Nook Color. The newest reader gets fewer compatible books, and none with enhanced graphics!  Nice.

Not a book I would recommend but it did have a few funny points. Best part was listening to Colbert on the audio version. So if you want to read the book, listen to it instead. Only three disks long, a short drive will have it finished.

Funny. Funny. Funny. This was a laughing riot. It was slow in getting started, but got absolutely hillarious when he started talking about politics and the legal system. At first, he says things with such a straight tone that you almost feel like he's taking himself seriously, but then his delivery is so sharp that you cannot help laughing. I thought that it was better than the first book.. .

Simply put – if you were a fan of Stephen Colbert's “The Colbert Report”, you know what to expect by this book and you will enjoy it.  Conversely, if you didn't like Colbert's show, you won't like this book – but then, you probably knew that and stayed away from it in the first place.  And, if you're one of the folks who is not familiar with Colbert's style of humor – this book, like his others, contains a commentary on current social, economic, and political situation – disguised in satire delivered by a pompous voice who sounds convinced of his obvious correctness and superiority. RATING: 5 stars.  I am a fan and appreciate Colbert's sense of humor. NOTE: I obtained the audio version of this book; since the author delivered his own material in his own unique style, it enhanced my enjoyment of the work.

This book goes from witty, to sarcastic, to kinda funny, to "oh, he's got a point," to "mommy, make the man stop!" Too much sattire followed up with zero straight talk. The ending is pathetic.

I purchased the audio version of this book upon recommendation of a friend. It was perfect to listen to on the TGV from Paris to Nice as I could enjoy the countryside and listen to a great book. It was hilarious. As a long time fan of the Colbert Report, I really enjoyed it.

It’s like THE PAGES ARE TURNING RIGHT AT YOU!!!  Fun! Just as good as the previous book (I Am America: And So Can You!) and a good companion series to the two Daily Show books about America and the Earth. You probably know what you are in for with these, but did you expect 3-D? No one saw it coming! If you have the hardcover edition, don’t forget to treat yourself to the awesome image under the dustcover of Stephen wearing 3-D glasses (He’s just like us!).

A fun book -- and the 3D glasses and pictures were an added hoot If you enjoy Stephen Colbert's over-the-top sarcastic sense of humor, then you will enjoy this book also.  There were a lot of accompanying funny pictures for the attention-span challenged. (I count myself squarely in that category.)

Political satire is always a good read in my opinion, but Colbert as always takes it to the next level. A wonderful read!!!
