A Powerful Secret is the the story of a family, first and foremost, with some political and corporate intrigue as well. I received a copy of the book in order to facilitate this review. I found the characters likable, and while I normally wouldn’t really enjoy a political story, I would say that the majority of the book is focused on Sean and the family relationships. Of course I won’t tell you what the “powerful secret” is, but reading along as Sean comes to terms with that secret draws you closer to his character. I was unaware at first that this was the second book in a series, but I didn’t have any problem following the story without having ready the first one. I now want to read the first one, as well as the third story, which follows Sean’s younger sister Sarah. The authors include a glossary at the front of the book with common abbreviations that are found in the story, which I found helpful. Also, at the end of the book is a bonus feature, “Birth Order Secrets”.

Deb’s Dozen: Even the Most Powerful Men Can Be Dethroned by a Powerful Secret. With The Worthington Destiny: A Powerful Secret, Dr. Kevin Leman and Jeff Nesbit’s latest mystery/suspense book, they have scored a hit again. I was thrilled with the first book in the series, A Perfect Ambition (see my review here) and have been waiting for this sequel to come out. They did not disappoint. Sean Worthington, the second sibling in the wealthy and powerful Worthington family, is stunned when his brother, Will, instead of launching his campaign for the US Senate, goes on stage and announces he is withdrawing from the contest. Sean, his campaign manager, has no clue why Will would do this or what has caused such aberrant behavior in his brother. Will won’t tell him, and, as usual, their father backs his “perfect” son. Sean does what Sean always does—runs. Frustrated by his father’s lack of belief in him, he runs off to one of the NGOs (non-government organization) he is contemplating supporting in Nepal. While there, he decides he will do the unexpected—he will run for Governor of New York, thereby killing two birds with one stone. He can return the call to the political powerbroker and tell her he doesn’t know why Will withdrew his candidacy, but he himself is tossing his hat into the ring. His actions set off a powder keg of events leading to the revelation of a powerful secret which changes everything. Leman/Nesbit have fleshed out the character of Sean in this book. While we got to know a bit about him in the first, Will’s book, we get even deeper into his psyche in A Powerful Secret. We learn much more about all the members of the Worthington family and what makes them tick. I have come to care for and be intrigued by the siblings: Will, Sean, and Sarah and am waiting with anticipation for Book Three: A Primary Decision. Good job, guys—even better than the first. Five stars! Dr. Kevin Leman is the author of more than fifty books and a frequent guest on such shows as Fox & Friends, The 700 Club, CNN, and Good Morning America. His co-author, Jeff Nesbit, is a former senior communications official at the White House and the author of twenty novels. Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, gave me a copy of A Powerful Secret in exchange for my unbiased review.

When I saw Dr. Leman's name on the cover of this book I expected the story to be about family relationships and more specifically birth order issues. I was right! When you add in author and political insider Jeff Nesbit this family drama also takes on a political suspense tone. The Worthington family is full of complex relationships. Will and Sean Worthington, although brothers, couldn't be more different. In most instances their differences compliment each other but suddenly there is something that separates the two and causes strife. It's one of those things that has been an underlying element throughout their lives but due to circumstances that not everyone is aware of it comes to the forefront. No one that has known the details really speaks of it but the elephant is always in the room. I didn't read the first book in the series, A Perfect Ambition, but I wish that I had. I would have enjoyed watching the complete story unfold. That book centered on firstborn son Will Worthington. A Powerful Secret is Sean's story. In the end I didn't feel like I missed any important details by only reading the second book but if you have the opportunity to read both I would highly recommend it. The third book, A Primary Decision, is youngest sister Sarah's story and it is due out this fall. I'll be eagerly snatching it up. A Powerful Secret is the perfect read for anyone that enjoys an intense family drama. It's also the perfect book for those that love political intrigue. I enjoyed this book so much that I hope there are many more books to come from this duo. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

This is the second book in The Worthington Destiny series. I had not read the first book in the series but I think I would have caught on a little quicker to what was happening if I had. Despite that this is a fantastic book. I love the Worthington family. I look forward to the next book in this series. This book is focusing on Sean. The first book focused on Will. The third book will focus on the sister. I am looking forward to reading the next book to see what other adventures these family members will have. I received a copy of this book from revell for a fair and honest opinion.

Why does Billionaire Sean Worthington feel as if he is always alone? He has a family but, never felt a part of it. His older brother decides to end a race for the Senate without care for anyone else. Sean cannot believe it. He is his campaign manager and still was not warned. His father has always took his brother's side. Sean decides it is time to get away from them. But, he has to get involved again when a shocking secret is found out about his family. Will he be able to do anything at all? I give this book a 4/5. I was given this book for a review and these are my opinions. This was given to me by Revell Publishing.

Dr. Kevin Leman & Jeff Nesbit in their new book, “A Powerful Secret” Book Two in The Worthington Destiny series published by Revell continues the adventure of Sean Worthington and The Worthington Family. From the Back Cover: Sean has always felt like an outsider in his own family. Now he must risk never achieving what he wants most–his father’s love. Billionaire globe-trotter Sean Worthington is stunned when his older brother suddenly abandons the Senate race in New York and walks away without a backward glance. As campaign manager, Sean’s left to handle the media feeding frenzy with no answers. Worse, their father–as usual–backs Will, the “perfect” son. Frustrated by his father’s lack of belief in him, Sean determines to finally move on and forge a unique path. But when a powerful secret is revealed, threatening everything Sean has counted on, he must wrestle with shocking truths . . . and combat the power brokers behind the scenes who have the Worthington family in their crosshairs. Politics, corporate intrigue and manipulation, there is a lot going on in this book and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Kevin Leman & Jeff Nesbit really know how to tell a story. Then there is all the activity going on within the Worthington Family. It doesn’t matter that Sean is a billionaire. All the money in the world couldn’t buy him what he is looking for simply from his father and brother. Then there is the woman he is interested in but cannot tell her. There are the most wonderful characters at work in this book. Not only will you will not mind spending a few hours with them you will be sorry to have to leave them at the end. Dr. Leman & Mr. Nesbit have delivered us a story that is loaded with action, suspense, romance, intrigue, danger and drama. It will keep you flipping pages as you try to keep up with everything that is happening. I am looking forward to the next book from this very talented author. Nutshell: Sean Worthington finds himself in quite the predicament. His brother, whom he works for, quits the senate race. Sean makes a pretty bold move in the political world, hoping to win his fathers attention and affection. Traipsing across the world, Sean learns not only about the secrets in the political worlds that could harm him, but also learns a lot about himself. Pro's: A quick read that takes you to all different climates and countries. A fast paced story line all the way to the end. Con's: A lot of politics, a lot of affluence that was hard to relate to. Recommendation: If you enjoy political books, you will enjoy this one! Revell sent me this complimentary copy to review for them. Opinions expressed are my own.

Some secrets need to be revealed.... A Powerful Secret The Worthington Destiny #2 by Dr. Kevin Leman and Jeff Nesbit All Sean Worthington has every wanted is his father's approval, his love. As his older brother's campaign manager, Sean may have found a path to what he desires. But when Will unexpectedly pulls out just as he is expected to announce his candidacy, Sean knows whom his father will blame and it won't be Will. What Sean doesn't know is someone has targeted the Worthington family - focusing on Will, Sean, and their sister Sarah. Even more shocking is just how far this elusive someone is willing to go to destroy this powerful family. A Powerful Secret is the second book in The Worthington Destiny and if you haven't read the first book don't worry it is easy to get caught up in this one. (I know because somehow I missed the first book) This is a book that will quickly pull you into the story. There is a bit of mystery throughout that will keep you wondering at the identity of certain people. And then there is the Worthington family and the ties that hold them together and how they play-out as different stresses and issues come into play. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one, but in the meantime I plan on obtaining a copy of the first one. In my opinion that is the true test of how well one enjoys a book - willingness to read the previous books in a series. I think readers who enjoyed Dan Walsh and Gary Smalley's Restoration series will find much to appreciate in this series. Family dynamics are explored and examined from the perspectives of the various characters in how they relate to one another. Things that are hidden will be revealed... I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher Revell in exchange for my honest review.

** “I had to make a decision. To no longer be held back by the fear of what might happen. I need to live by my own creed. The only failure is in not trying, in not giving something your all.” ** “A Powerful Secret” by Dr. Kevin Leman and Jeff Nesbit picks up immediately following the end of the series’ first novel, with Sean Worthington reeling after his brother Will’s unexplained withdrawal from the senate race. Sean doesn’t realize that Will pulled out of the race because of some potentially devastating family secrets — and to mainly protect Sean. This political intrigue novel continues the story of the Worthington siblings and each of their roles in the aftermath of the American Frontier oil spill in the Arctic Ocean. But it focuses primarily on middle child, Sean, and his journey in finding his identity and place in life. “A Powerful Secret” deals with the impact of secrets; the theme that to those who are given much, much is required; listening to that still small voice; finding and staying on the right path; and the fact that you can’t change the past but you can be present in the here and now. And of course, with Dr. Leman being the king of birth order, these novels also deal with the impact of birth order on each of the Worthington children. The book is filled with political drama, corporate espionage, secret plots and even a mystery character from Langley. It also has a little bit of a religious overtone, as both Will and Sean must decide whether they want to listen to that still small voice and come to God, as their sister Sarah already has. Dr. Leman and Nesbit do a good job recapping the plot of the original “A Perfect Ambition,” but I would still highly recommend reading that novel first, as it will make it much easier to follow “A Powerful Secret.” Another great aspect to this series, on a personal level, is the mention of Chautauqua Institution, the family’s summer vacation home where several scenes take place. I grew up going to Chautauqua to spend time with my grandparents and still live only 30 minutes from there in Jamestown, also mentioned in the book, so it was neat to see these locations featured in a fiction series. Five stars out of five. Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.

A story of family, politic, and mystery. Sean Worthington is confused when his brother decides to walkaway from his Senate run and Sean is left to figure out why and to pick up the pieces. I liked the family bond is this book and how it gave some insight into the political world. I could see the anguish the younger son had as he had to try to deal with what his brother did without the full support of his family. I received a copy of this book to read and review from the publisher.

When I first read the back cover of this book, I immediately thought of the Kennedys our own American Royalty, and the tragedy that followed them. So I began turning the pages, and there are similarities, but this is a different family of Irish heritage. You could feel Sean’s pain as he tried and tried and seemed to never succeed in winning his father’s approval. The family appears to be so very close, and the siblings are there for each other. When Will walks away from the Senate race, we soon see how strong the bonds this family has, even when they don’t know why all of this happened. I loved how concerned for his fellow man Sam is and how he goes about seeing to the well being and setting companies up to help these world communities move forward to the future. Will we ever find out who is stalking this family? Will Sam ever real his true feeling for a woman his friend appears to have feelings for? The book is supposed to be a christian read, but there is a lot lacking as far as anything faith in this read, wish there would have been more. The answers to most of yours questions are here and there is another book coming out this fall in this series, and I may give it another try. I received this book through the Revell Reads Blogger Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.

Dr. Kevin Leman and Jeff Nesbit have written a powerful political novel that is well written and well timed. Amidst all of the political campaigning going on these days it was very refreshing and comforting to know that even though they are ficticous there are great men and women out there. A Powerful Secret deals with many issues from politics, to money, to ecology, to family dynamics and much more. The book captured my attention from the first page and kept me reading til the final page. As a 3rd born child and the second daughter, I am interested in reading more about birth order from Dr. Kevin Leman. I am also praying that our country's political candidates will take a closer look at what true integrity looks like. Nesbit and Leman have written an action packed novel that gives me hope. Great read even if you are not into politics at all.
