Overview

Witch and vintage store owner Lily Ivory faces her most difficult mystery to date with a case of mistaken identity that hits close to home...

Lily Ivory and her friends are planning a 1950s-themed brunch to benefit the local women's shelter. When a figure from her past shows up unannounced, threatening her unless she returns something that belonged to him, Lily's fiancé, Sailor, steps in to defend her. After the same man is found dead later that day, Sailor is the primary suspect. He swears he's innocent, but multiple witnesses ID him as the perpetrator of the assault. Lily vows to clear his name...only she's not sure where to start with the mounting evidence against him.

When she sees Sailor in the neighborhood despite knowing he's in jail, Lily starts to wonder if there could be a doppelganger in San Francisco. When she's not busy helping customers find matching outfits for the upcoming event, searching for a vintage wedding dress for her own nuptials, and dealing with an ill-timed magical cold, Lily begins to suspect one of her magical foes is targeting her loved ones in an attempt to weaken her.

Lily Ivory's wedding to Sailor is getting closer. The bride still hasn't found her wedding dress, but she's got a few weeks, so no worries. While her grandmother is making her way from Texas to San Francisco with her coven and Lily's Mother, the ladies seem to be on a long circuitous route on their way to get there. It turns out the delay in the arrival of the Texas delegation works in Lily's favor as Sailor is arrested for the murder of a man from Lily's past who threatened her upon his arrival, demanding she return what she stole from him. The only problem is, Lily doesn't know what she supposedly stole and she can't even remember the time she met the man and spent time with him and her father. Lily knows that Sailor would never kill someone, not without just cause to protect someone he cared about, but witnesses and the hotel video clearly point out Sailor as the murderer. Even Inspector Carlos Romero believes there is something "Hinky" going on and asks Lily to look into things the way that only she can do with her magical background. But time is ticking and there will be no wedding with Sailor in prison. Lily needs to work fast and smart, but her magic seems a bit off at the moment. Calling in support from Rom, Witch, and Voodoo friends, Lily focuses on clearing Sailor and planning their wedding, hoping for a happily ever after outcome. I adore this series and the setting. Juliet Blackwell is one of the first Cozy authors I read and I enjoy all of her books, both cozy and non cozy as well. The characters have become so vibrant that you think of them as friends and each new book is a visit to spend time with them. Take Conrad for example, who hasn't been rooting for him to turn his life around and when he takes the first step, you're rooting for him, right along with Lily. This is truly a magical series that delivers on all fronts.

I have been reading all the series of this one and others and have to say I love them!! Can't go Wrong ?

Great story, but I did not enjoy the subtle politicizing. I wanted to be entertained while solving a mystery, not be reminded of the current political environment. Lost in a book is the most amazing feeling...this book took it away several times.

a complex action packed mystery A MAGICAL MATCH by Juliet Blackwell The Ninth Witchcraft Mystery While preparations continue for the magical show down coming to San Francisco, Lily Ivory is getting ready for her store's Magical Match charity event. But there's soon a bigger problem than a shady cupcake lady and not being able to find the perfect wedding dress. The groom-to-be has been arrested for murder. Multiple witnesses saw Sailor leaving the scene of the crime and a video confirmed it! The victim, a man Lily barely remembers, showed up at Aunt Cora's Closet earlier claiming she stole something from him. But things don't add up and even Detective Carlos thinks things are hinky. Lily must look to the past and get help from unexpected places in order to figure out what's going on and get Sailor out of jail in time for their handfasting! I'm thrilled to be back in San Fransisco with these characters I've come to love. A MAGICAL MATCH kept me enthralled from start to finish. There is so much going on! Knowing that everyone is in danger from the magical big threat. Not knowing what problems are mundane and which may be magical threats. Is someone looking to weaken Lily? So many questions! The prophesy! Why can't Lily remember the time in Germany with her father? Is her relationship with Sailor harmful? How much does she really know about him? Could Aidan actually be working against her? Ultimately, this ninth Witchcraft mystery is about trust and family, the one you make as well as the one you're born into. Mother issues are explored as well as having to face your past. We also see that working together, acceptance, and believing in yourself will help you to succeed and be happy. A MAGICAL MATCH is a complex action packed mystery with plenty of humor balancing out the danger and the unknown. It's a book that makes you think, laugh, and at the end, feel happy and filled with love.

I love this series and was not the least bit disappointed by #9! All my favorites are still in the book and they are not boring! Best of all, readers are still learning new things along with the characters! The Matching Tea Party is a fun idea, too!

I really love, love, love the Witchcraft Mystery series by Juliet Blackwell. And I was greatly anticipating The Magical Match as it was going to be about Lily and Sailor's wedding. Also, Lily's mother, grandmother, and her grandmother's coven were to arrive in town for the wedding. Instead, Sailor was in jail through most of the book and the relatives and coven did not show up until the end of the book. Presumably, all the twists and turns in this book are more of a setup for future books. The character of Lily seemed distracted and not her usual kind, empathetic, and humorous self. This book did not seem on par with the other books. Hopefully the next book will be as entertaining as her previous books.

What a fun paranormal cozy mystery Juliet Blackwell has created a loveable cast of characters that I fell for. This is my first Magical Mystery in the 9 books she has written in the series. I will now have to go back and read the rest, I dare you not to read this book. It’s just a witchy delight.

A Magical Match was spellbinding (pun intended). It left me guessing until the end. Juliet Blackwell's Witchcraft Mystery series is a wonderful trip into a world of magic in the City by the Bay. I love escaping into this world with the characters I now feel are my friends (or enemies). A Magical Match is the best in the series - and has left me dying for the next book! Juliet Blackwell has become one of my favorite fiction writers - buy this book, and you will see why. While you can read this one without reading the previous books - this is a series you need to binge read so you can get caught up! My oldest daughter is now reading the series - and enjoying the sojourn into Blackwell's world as much as I!
