Awesome but not for storytime/lap-sit book, A small green frog wishes to be something else, spells on half-cut pages mix and match what sort of spell/animal the little green frog would become. Fun many variations for reading the spells.
This is a book about a frog who finds a book - he uses it for various imaginary pursuits, including making it into a pirate ship and a castle. In the process of this, he manages to rip the pages and generally demolish the book. It's a book of spells, and he tries to figure out the wording for the various spells - he gets a lot wrong, turning himself into a "Ferd," a "Snewt," and so on, as he tries to find the right combination of words to turn himself into a prince. That is a very convuluted explanation for what is a very simple, instinctual concept and kids will grasp right away what is going on in the story without all this explication. Half the pages of this unique book are cut down the middle creating the possibility of a variety of different creatures (top half a frog, bottom a bird, top half a snake, bottom a newt, and so on). This book is really imaginative and would be good for a fun, interactive storytime.
