This book continues the story that started in I am Number 4. It has a lot of action and furthers the back story of the group from Lorien. It also introduces us to more of the group and their powers. It is a good read and leaves you wanting the next in the series to learn how it ends.

I loved the first book and I loved the movie. This book, did lived up to what I was waiting for and more. The reader this time see the other numbers. This book is told from Six's point of view, Four's and Seven's. The author also threw in some new changes, elements, and just Wow'ed me from the very first page. So, Six. Did I mention how much I like this girl? The reader gets to get into the head of Six and see where she came from, who her guardian was, etc. I love that Six is strong and well adapted. Traveling along with Four and his best friend Sam, Six is a girl like no other. She fights, makes plans, maps, and goes to aid of Number Seven. Six doesn't let anyone slow her down. She knows what she needs to do and does it. Seven. I loved this girl as well. Raised completely different, Seven is fighting a whole new battle of her own. She struggles with being bullied and ignored. I can't tell you how proud I was of her when she finally stood up to her guardian, for herself. I was like," YOU Go GIRL! Tell her how it is!" I was so hyped reading the book that I was jumping in my seat! Four. Oh Boy, don't even get me started. More drama with Sara (UGH!) and Sam. I'm not going to get into everything cause I don't want to spoil, but just know that there is some major drama, unexpected twist that I was very ANGRY about. I mean seriously? I have no idea what will happened now, but its good drama that you will get into. All of the numbers are still fighting the aliens, traveling to and from places. Sam plays a bigger role than ever. I like that the reader learns more with what happened to his father. The Power of Six definitely has power to captivate me into the reading the next book. Some parts of the story totally caught me off guard but nonetheless I enjoyed it. A well written fabulous book, it is a divine book that will capture readers everywhere!

I read I am number four in august (2010) and really liked it. I just saw the movie adaptation yesterday also which I really liked. The only part i didn't like about the movie was how they portrayed the bad guys (i dont remember the names, i read the book like a 100 books ago and they didnt say it clear enough in the movie). A girl in my math class had the newer version of i am number four (with the movie cover) and let me read the excerpt of the power of six. I really like the thought of the author putting the book in another numbers eyes. Number seven sounds cool and i'm glad it's from a girls point of view (for me and other female readers out there) but i still liked John (4) in the first. i cant wait until it comes out :DDDDD

The Power of Six is a strong follow-up to I Am Number Four (review here). The story picks up shortly after the last book ended, but it opens with a new member of the Garde (super-cool young aliens with special powers, only six known survivors of their race). Marina (Number Seven) and her Cepan (older protector alien, skilled in combat but without the special powers) have been hiding in a convent in Spain for a long time. Marina is now almost eighteen and skilled with the Legacies she has discovered so far. The problem is that her Cepan, Adelina, has dedicated her life to the Church and refuses to acknowledge what they are and what their mission is. With the help of an adorable new orphan named Ella, Marina plots to find the Chest containing her powerful inheritance- she wants to find the other five, before the Mogadorians find her! The book is split back and forth between Marina's story and John's story. John, if you will recall, has run away from Paradise, Ohio with Six, Sam, and Bernie Kosar, leaving Sarah, the love of his life, behind. They are major fugitives, suspected of terrorist actions and hunted by the police as well as the Mogadorians. John is still holding on to the letter than his Cepan, Henri, wrote to him before he died, and he hasn't opened his Chest to explore his Inheritance yet. Meanwhile, both John and Sam have crushes on Six- which makes John feel guilty and Sam feel jealous. Fortunately, relatively little time is spent on the love triangle(s) aspect. This book is action packed- the fight scenes are more frequent and even better than in the first book! The Garde have such cool powers, and in this book, they use them creatively. Marina, in particular, uses her powers skillfully. I remember reading I Am Number Four and wondering why John didn't use this or that power to do whatever, but in this book, he uses his powers in ways that I hadn't imagined, leaving me impressed with his innovative thinking. There's also a really cool part where John and Six use their powers to directly help humans by freaking out a bad guy. Sam also has special moments- he's NOT like Ron Weasley (mostly useless in combat until the very end). Despite being a human instead of an alien, Sam shows bravery, strength, and skill alongside John and Six. The only downside was that the book was a little hard to get into- the first 50 pages or so set up the story for both John and Marina, which ends up being a lot of build up. After that, though, things start to get exciting... There are several cool twists- some in the beginning, and some near the end, and I LOVE twists that I didn't see coming! The last one hundred pages I couldn't put the book down, and I can't wait for #3! This book definitely ended on a cliffhanger, but the kind that makes you look forward to the next book, not the kind that makes you write an angry tweet and then delete it. I would recommend this series to fans of YA Adventure. This is an alien story, which is kind of different, and it's a lot of fun to read. Yes, there's lots of violence, and yes, there's sad parts, but the writing gives you a positive, vibrant feeling, and the characters are good natured and warm. Both boys and girls will enjoy this book, and I think it transcends interest levels- this would be just as good to someone my age as to a fourteen year old.

It includes all of the normal copy of the book, an extended chapter(great! Loved it!), character profiles, messages from pittacus lore, trailers from the first movie, and the first chapter of the first lost files book. In my book, it was worth it!

I think that this was a really good book. If you liked "I Am Number Four" you would definitly love this book. It's more about the action this time, and less about John's relationship with Sarah. I kind of liked it better that way, with more fighting. I think that the only disappointment in this book is Seven. I found her parts very boring, and lacking excitment. The only part where she even stars fighting visbin about the last two chapters. But I think Lore definitly made up for the lack of excitement in her part with Four's part. Overall I really enjoyed this book. And if you liked the first book, then you should definitly read this one.

I enjoyed this book. However i was not as big of a fan of the rise of nine and the fate of ten. At that point i think the author(s) were streaching it a little and that those books were not quite as well written. I have readthe whole series and it hooked me in. I am truly hoping that united as one will end the series on a good book, but i do still aside fro. My complaints recommend the power of six after reading i am number 4. This book was not inappropriate besides some language and cheesy romance. I hope this review helped!

The series is a good read, but when you first ope it, it looks like it a 340 page book - then you find the first two chapters are the last 2 chapters of the last book you just read, and then two chapters each from the next three books - bait and switch. Other major authors' books are 1000 pages +, and about $10. What you actually get here is the chance to re-read what you just read, and an ad for the sequels, but only about 200 pages of new content. What a total rip off.
