I was specifically looking for a 'single" bookend, which is much harder to find then sets. This is really a very nice piece. While I bought mine online and was pleased with the one I got you should take note that each piece of Alabaster will vary and that the shade of green you see on your screen is probably not a good representation. If you have a B&N near you, this is an item you might want to consider picking up in person so you will be certain you know exactly what you are getting.

I have seen this in stores in places other than my hometown. I loved the bright green color! I needed a book end for my cookbooks and decided to order this online. I was so excited to get. Then it arrived. I opened the box and found a dark green and white speckled pear. Not the bright spring green. I kept it as I paid to ship it here, have a newborn, and live 30 minutes from town. I do not have the time to return it in store. I am pretty disappointed by the color because it is not at all what I excepted. It is nice enough, heavy enough to hold up my 6 cook books, but it just wasn't the look from the picture.

Beautiful! I saw mine in a book store and loved it. My daughter ended up buying one for me for Christmas.

I ordered this pear, which I thought would be the beautiful bright green pictured, but instead I received a dull, dark green item. I wish I had returned it.

I have this lovely piece sitting in the middle of the top shelf of the center section of my bookcase, in front of a row of books. I have many other bookends, so I bought this one as an ornament. It did not disappoint. Although it is far more variegated than the one shown online, I actually prefer the one that I received. It has colors and shades ranging from cream to a very dark green, all forming a unique pattern. The size is just right, also---considerably bigger than any pear one would be likely to encounter growing on a tree, yet just big enough to adequately show the beauty of the alabaster. Yes, this pear is a "peach!"

I've had my eye on these for years. I finally got them. Love them.

I've seen one of these in my local B&N for years now. I always joked with my girlfriend that I'd get her this pear. I finally got her one today and I know she's going to like it. It's a cool looking bookend. Definitely a quality piece for her to enjoy for years to come. Plus, it's from Italy, which I hold close to my heart. I'm glad I got it!

As a collector of representations of pears, I find this green Italian alabaster piece a gem - and currently the showcase of my collection! The marble is smooth and rich looking. A pair of these would make magnificent bookends. I have just the one displayed with a group of other pears made of glass, wax, teak, and other interesting media. The color is a luminous green that remains neutral in a collection, yet draws the eye immediately. This is a sophisticated and elegant decoration that looks great against the oak shelving I have placed it on, but would look equally smashing against darker wood.

Gave a set of two bookend pears as a gift. The recipient loved them. Use them for bookends or as a decoration. Either way they look great.

The recipient of a "pair of pears" was delighted! Even moving them out of the summer digs to the main house.

This beautiful bookend was a gift from me to a very good friend at a special birthday brunch. When the recepient opened her gift, she said "Wow" and the group said "OOOooo. Where'd you find that? It's lovely." etc. So, thanks to my local bookstore (yes I know it's a corporate giant etc) I hit one out of the park. Membership gives you a little discount and it's really a beautiful piece... she thought it was too nice to be stuck on a bookshelf and may put it somewhere else. I'm really pleased when my gifts are so well received.

This is a lovely work made in Italy and well worth the money. It's heavy and beautiful. I love this bookend.
