Beware the Pursuer You want to know the best thing about this? Paging through it and realizing just how many areas and bosses you never even found while playing the game. It’s hard not to put the book down and go back to see if you can discover them in your new game plus. This thing is for hardcore fans of Dark Souls II, I wouldn’t even consider looking at this until you have beaten the game at least once. As an art book this thing excels, as it is full, almost exclusively, of concept art. No CG renders or wireframe models, just paintings and sketches. Each image is labeled, sometimes with comments from the artists. The images are generally large and beautiful (or horrific) to look upon. That is about the first 200 pages, then comes a fairly specific and in-depth interview with the developers. I was especially fascinated by how they went about designing the levels and bosses, you can see why this series is unique. After the interviews there are some very cool photos of physical objects produced to promote the game, none of which I have ever seen before. Who knew there was a Dark Souls II cafe in Japan or that they made a life-size statue of the Faraam Knight? If you love Darks Souls II you should get this, it has the same intriguing, haunting, mysterious and melancholic vibe as the game, and maybe even helped me appreciate it even more.
I love this 10/10 would buy again if available
