Believe: Think, Act, Be Like Jesus Kids' Edition, edited by Randy Frazee is part of the Believe collection of resources. This series includes age level resources for adults, students and younger children as well. After reviewing the adult, kids' and child resource, I was most impressed with the hard cover, full color children's Believe Storybook. I was underwhelmed by this Kids' Edition of the Believe resource; the paperback quality reminded me of the dollar store. I felt the strongest books in this series was the children's Believe Storybook. This trade paperback edition gave the impression of a dollar store coloring-book quality with its illustrations and formatting. It just did not give the impression of a quality book for the $11.99 retail price. If it was priced at $2.99 for the mass market, it would be more reasonable. Although there is a blue spot color throughout and plenty of illustrations, I feel the large chunks of text are still too monotonous. With the inclusion of scripture texts and commentary, I do not feel that there is enough unique content to a justify purchase of this book in the context of the wide range of children's study bibles available for the school age and pre-teen age group that this book is marketed for. With the availability of high quality affordable complete NIV youth bibles available today, I do not see how this resource stands out. This book might be good for those younger readers who might be too over whelmed by a complete bible. This book covers a good variety of biblical topics as a non denominational version of a "catechism". In general, there are enough people unfamiliar with the bible as it is, that if presented with the Believe series of books, will find themselves confused with these resources that present large portions of the bible, yet are not the actual bible. As a blogger for Booklook I received a copy of this boo published by Zondervan for the purpose of writing this review.

Believe Kids Edition Think, Act, Be Like Jesus By: Randy Frazee I so love the cover to this beautiful book. The picture of Jesus holding out his hand to help you while standing on water is so like Jesus saying I am always here to help you no matter what turbulence you find yourself facing. As I always say most of the covers tell me a story all themselves before I even open the cover to read. In this beautiful book there are 3 Keys: 1 KEY QUESTION: The key question is the starting place; this is what the chapter will help the reader think about. 2 KEY IDEA: Encourage your child to memorize the key ideas so they can recite what they believe. 3 KEY VERSE: God’s word hidden in young hearts will stick for a life time. Think About IT: Why this belief is so important. I find this book is a great book not only for the kids but for a new person starting to learn of Jesus and the Bible also us old folks can learn from this beautifully written book to help us learn in a new way then what we knew of the old ways. The older people will understand what I mean if they were in a church that taught Hell and Damnation more than learning the love Jesus had for us. What a wonderful book this is. The King James is a wonderful bible but a hard one to read (or I felt it is). This book lets you know the answers to all your questions for your life. It is right here in the bible all you have to do is read the Bible. God wants you to know him and will direct you. This is a very interesting book, very helpful. I really enjoyed this book and will have it on my desk to grab when I need to refresh my memory. I recommend this book highly. I received this beautiful book free from Booklook blogger for an honest review I was not required to write a positive review just an honest one. The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own and no one else’s. 5 Stars ISBN 978-0-310-74601-0

In the Preface of the book Randy Frazee begins by telling the story of King Josiah. You'll remember that he was eight years old when he became king. 2 Kings 23:25 says: "There was no king like Josiah either before him or after him. None of them turned to the LORD as he did. He obeyed the LORD with all his heart and all his soul. He obeyed Him with all his strength." How did Josiah become such a king? It was because he was read the Word of God and he followed it. Isn't that what we want for each of our children, to become well versed in Scripture and to follow the precepts it contains? Believe: Kids' Edition is the perfect start for that lifelong journey. The book breaks the process down into three sections, THINK: What Do I Believe?, ACT: What Should I Do?, and BE: Who Am I Becoming? Each of these sections use the NIrV edition of the Bible which is designed for a third grade reading level. There are thirty chapters that also correspond with the adult and student editions of this book making it a great tool for weeks of family devotions. I was very pleased with this simplified version of Believe. I say simplified meaning vocabulary not content. Randy Frazee has been thorough in his covering of the main concepts of Scripture. The discussion questions are a nice touch to make it interactive rather than just a one way teaching from parent to child. Our family was blessed by this resource and I think yours will be too. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Randy Frazee a senior pastor out here in Texas. He is also the brains behind The Story and BELIEVE church campaigns. I had previously reviewed the BELIEVE adult book, so my next two reviews will be for the kids edition (because I have kids) and the Believe story book. Like it's adult counterpart, the Believe Kid's edition teaches readers the core beliefs of faith. No mind you my son is 7 going on 8 and he is a pretty good reader and while the suggested age is "8" for this book, I found the book a little much for him and way beyond his reading. Maybe this is for a 8 almost 9 year old? The book is broken into 3 big sections: beliefs, practices, and virtues— and each part takes your child deeper into the word of God and broader into such subjects as who Jesus is, who God is, how to pray, why we worship and the different spiritual gifts. My son loves Bibles, and Bible stories, so I was eager for him to see this. It's important that my wife and I build a foundation in him now while he is still young. I want his faith to be built on something strong so that when he is older his faith will be able to stand on it's own. And please don't be intimidated if you're not a veteran Sunday school teacher, or seminary graduate - the book could not be easier to read with your children. The author covers everything you need in the first few pages. Right now I am reading it to him for a quiet time and then we go over the discussion questions at the end of each chapter. Oh and yes, there are pictures! Thank you to book sneeze and Zondevan for this advanced copy for a fair and honest review.
